Purdy. Real Purdy!

That one sure is a beauty! I absolutely love that grain pattern on the rear of the stock! There certainly is something special about these ol Dans. I too felt the urge to find a nice Silver after acquiring the 82 Blue for my son. I have one set to arrive Thursday. A friend stopped by this weekend he has a flat topped 1322 fairly decked out. Shoots 14.66s@ 650ish but that's 15+ pumps...
He was 100% in love with the Blue Streak.. he kept raving about how smooth it pumped. And 8 pumps was producing 640 with a 14.3 Benji cylindrical "dang" near the same energy for less energy ;)
I can't wait to get my Silver. Have you ever tried the Baker Airguns scope mount? I know that I have read that traditional mounts can cause barrel separation at times. I'm okay with a Williams peep but would love a safe scope mount.
-
Very nice.
You're really trying to make me want one aren't you. Not that it would be bad if that happened.
-
Wow !....Very Stunning & Outstandingly Nice !
Congratulations Steve !

Sheridans are smooth, slick rifles. The QUALITY is there.
I have owned a good many scoped Sheridans, with different mounts . Baker's is a good one. A lot of people fault the Sheridan Intermounts with causing barrel separation, but I don't believe that is the entire cause. I have several with that mount right now, with no problems. The smaller intermount only has 2 screws on each side. That mount, with a big heavy scope, puts stress on the joint. Bang it in the truck or against a tree, & it may crack.

Very Nice!
-
A real looker for sure.
-
I was busy today, so I didn't have a chance to set up the chrony & test it. I did put a couple of pellets down the barrel & it seemed fine. This is a VERY, VERY fine rifle !! I put it in the stable with the rest of the Sheridans , for the night.

Very nice Steve!
-
Thanks. Of COURSE,,, I may probably fall in love with it & never sell it !!
-
I'm all topped out. Wait to fall out of love with it for at least few month's. :)

Steve, with as many Sheridan’s you have owned and sold, you must have settled on some criteria that is your threshold to hold onto one over the other.
Care to share your specifics...

My very first Sheridan, which I still have, was a Silver. I guess that is why I am more partial to the Silver Streaks. Nothing at all wrong with a nice Blue Streak, though. I often have people ask me , " What is the difference between a Blue Streak and a Silver Streak ?" I tell them, " I am not trying to be smart, but basically, one is Blue an the other is Silver ."
My favorites are early Silver Streaks . made in the 50's - 70's. It is just so hard to beat their quality. Most of my Sheridans are from those years. It is rare that I have one newer than a 1980. While they were still good rifles,, I just prefer the older ones. I like hold down safeties better than rocker safeties , especially if the rifle is going to be for a youngster. The hold down is always " on safe." You must hold it down to fire, so I view it as a safer rifle for beginners. A rocker safety is manually turned off & on. A beginner may not remember to set it on safe, after pumping & loading. Sheridans are quite powerful & have killed a few people over the years, just like other pellet rifles.
Get out & shoot your Sheridans !

As long as there are beautiful Silver Streaks,,, you can never be topped out !

It has been raining here this morning, so I am on the computer more than I usually am. it cleared up for a short while & I went out to test the new rifle .
FANTASTIC !!
It is shooting at factory estimated speeds of 675 fps. I could not be more pleased with it. I may sleep with her, tonight !

Never had that habit !

Good for U!

Don't smoke, don't drink , never taken drugs , skinny as I was in the 60's , eat well, exercise daily, low cholesterol, good blood pressure ,, but I do chase women.
Still,, had 2 massive heart attacks 4 years ago ! V.A. says that it is from " Agent Orange," in Vietnam !
-
Sad thing…Nam. I have a cousin whose ailments, & there are many, are attributed to AO.
I’ll have to say though; you have a great eye for good looking women. ;)
-
This one may could be made to hit 700fps. I have owned a few Sheridans that touched that magical speed of 700fps. These were not " steroided," either . [ I dislike that term.] Some early 1960's had adjustable pump rods which could be slightly adjusted to increase pressure . Just like a shorter piston stroke in a car engine. Even with those, most won't get to 700fps, unless with a light pellet , but it will increase the power a bit .
A .20 cal. pellet at that speed can produce 14-15 ft. pounds of energy. That is a lot of power !

2 massive heart attacks? Maybe you'd be better off chasing slower women.

Yes, 2 heart attacks within 3 months ! There was a period there when I wasn't chasing ANY women !

Chasing women...there are worse ways to die. ;) ( Just Like a Male Moth that is Attracted to The Flames )

I've got a 1951 Silver Streak that I inherited. What's the maximum number of pumps for that gun? I assumed it was 10 but I think I was wrong?
-
No, No. 8 pumps maximum on Sheridans. I plink, target shoot at 10 yards , set sights, etc. with 3 pumps. No need to work so hard. Squirrel/rabbit hunting, I always used 5 pumps , unless it was a long distance shot, or even bigger game.
-
very nice. Hard to find woodgrain like that. Congrats.
-
Thank you !
-
I rarely pump a Dan over 5 pumps. I can't even remember the last time I did.
-
Well, sadly the 70s Silver Streak arrived yesterday but departed back to the seller just as fast... barrel separation, not visible in the pics. These silvers in great shape are rare indeed. Good find for sure sir. I see another on EBay but I believe I see separation on that one as well. Not one to sit I found a pretty cherry 1980 Blue Streak I couldn't pass on for now. What other places do you all visit to find them? I am new to this love affair lol.

On the corner of whatumacallit & 5th street.

I suppose it's like asking where you caught those fish...lol
"In the water" ;)
-
That's about right. ;)
Something similar to this occurred over at a site I joined just to educate myself on poultry. Been a member for about a year but never posted until a few weeks ago. The reason; I located something called “Blue Ameraucana” chickens. 1 Blue & 3 Splash to be exact. I wanted verification I had found the right breed & sure enough all four checked out. This is considered a rare breed & online eggs sell for $19.00 a pop with a minimum purchase. Folks on that site went nuts.
So a couple of members wanted to know where I found them (one from NM & one from Colorado). My response was this; with all due respect I cannot disclose this information. My source is a small operation & if I give out this information there won’t be any left for me, especially on social media. I plan to build up my flock. These two individuals came unhinged. The words they were using floored me. We’re not in GTA anymore Toto.
So I guess my point in not divulging information with respect to Dan’s other than eBay is because it takes work. Lots of work to find sources you can depend on. You’d be surprised at the sources you can come up with if you put in the time. Good luck in your search.
-
Or you could get lucky and one finds you, like what happened to me.
I guess that is how I chased women too ;)
-
Folks have done well at gun shops & yard sales . One of my nicest Silver's came from a gun shop for $50. My Crosman 101 as well, for $40.
-
That's awesome very good stories.
And no worries my friend I felt no animosity toward your response I completely understand.
I will definitely start putting in some effort as I would love to find myself a very fine silver streak in the future.
I have to say I've been there gunning for a while and there's just something about these vintage Dans That has me all tickled once again. I thank you all for the advice, I'm just glad I found This little corner of my hobby that I had not known about..
Very cool indeed

That made me laugh. My Grandpa emigrated from Italy in 1921 at age 17. Until he died sometime in the 1980's he still had a bit of an accent. One of the things I fondly recall him saying was "achoomacall".

I watch All 'The Pretty Horses' just to hear that one dude say; "At the gettin place". :)

Funny.... I use that phrase all the time in a NYB situation....
"Where did you get that?"
"At the getting place"

Update on the rifle. I cannot describe how pleased I am with this one. It has been a joy to shoot the last couple of weeks & just like a Sheridan,, it is very accurate. I thought about putting a scope on it, but I will be leaving it just like it is. It is still slinging pellets at about 670-675 fps Which makes it the hardest shooting Silver that I own. I do have a Blue Streak that shoots at this speed, too.
-
Steve, is that with 8 pumps?
-
Steve, is that with 8 pumps?
Yes, 8 pumps & JSB Exacts.
-
Impressive! 8)
-
The Silver & a Blue shoot at that speed, & neither are modified.
