I think. For now.
Been on a quest to get some consistency out of CPHP's in my .177 Maximus. I can easily go thru a tin of pellets in a long session, at best they last me 2 trips to the backyard. Cost was starting to get to me, after all this is cheaper than PB's, right? I will say that with the work I've done the AA/JSB 8.4 are still better mainly due to being more consistent, but not enough to pay twice the price plus shipping. Here's a rundown on what I ended up doing:
BNM breech + full shroud
Filled transfer port with JB Weld and drilled it a bit smaller than stock, think it was 5/64
Hill spring .042
Threw away the SSG I made, it was causing more harm than good
End result is I can get 50 pretty consistent shots at 50 yards or 40 if switching targets. I fill to 1850 then shoot down to about 1000. The average over the 50 is about 930fps. The first 20 I usually shoot at my 50 yard target, the next 20 at my 65 yard target. The second 20 are starting at the 1500psi mark. The velocity is on the downward leg and they tend to hold together a bit better at distance. It was windy this afternoon but finally warm so did a little shooting. There are still a couple of tweaks I could make, but right now I'm enjoying it. The pics below are 20 shots at the 50 yard, 20 at the 65 yard, then I shot another 20 at the 50 yard for 40 total shots over 2 fills.

Thanks guys, I'm very happy with the way it has turned out.
This winter seems to be taking forever. We're back in the 30's and 40's for a few more days.

Don't know if they're available in your area but my Disco shoots the 177 discovery hollow points pretty well. The ones I've gotten in the past were cleaner and had less flashing than the crosman ones did. They are just as cheap as the crosman as well.

Thanks Tracker. I've wondered if there is a difference in them, pretty sure Academy has them about the same price as the CPHP at Wally World but for 750 instead of 500.
