Title: need scope recommendation for 2240
Post by: Perry on March 01, 2018, 03:29:36 PM
Hi All.  This is my first post.  I am building a 2240.  So far so good.  I polished up the sear and trigger and adjusted the spring, came out perfect.  Steel breach.  I put a UTG red green on it with a rail adapter.  It works great but the balance is all off and it doesn't look good.  I would like a scope that looks like the one used by the Crosman custom shop.  I don't know what it is but it's only a $19 add on.  I am considering buying a 2300kt from the CCS but want to finish this build first.  I have a 10 inch barrel coming from ebay.  My budget would be less that $50. A 2x7 or something like that would be nice as opposed to a 2x only. Does anybody know what that scope is in the custom shop?  Any info would be helpful.

Couple options for you.

First and most expensive would be to buy it directly from Crosman.  Not sure if this the exact model they put on the custom shop guns but here's a Crosman 2x pistol scope on their website for $49.  Crosman owns Centerpoint so they may have more options than just this one.

Another option would be to buy that custom shop gun which grants you the ability to order parts from the custom shop.  After you get your custom (maybe even after having the order processed into the system) you should be able to call Crosman's parts dept, identify yourself as a custom shop customer and place an order for the scope.  Oops, you didn't think you wanted it when you bought your custom but now you want to try it (although I've never been asked if the parts I'm ordering are going to go on my custom shop gun).

The last suggestion I have is to look at low cost options online.  I like and have had good luck with the Hammer's brand which is low cost, has a warranty, and is available on Amazon.  I have had several in use for years with no problems and I bought their 2x pistol scope to try out a couple of years ago.

One thing I found is that I didn't like the scope on the 22xx build I bought it for.  I had a lot of aggravation getting a good sight picture holding everything unsupported at arms length and ended up going back to an open reflex red dot.

I use UTG's picatinny to dovetail adapters when I can't find what I want in a dovetail base.

Thanks Blue.  I'm using an adapter, it makes the sight look bigger than it is.  Shooting today I think this red dot may work though.  Getting good groups.  I'll will look at that scope.  I like cross hairs.

All the Crosman style 13xx, 2240, 2400 I always preferred a simple 4x small tube scope. I've used bigger 32mm, 40mm and so on, but they al added weight that I didn't want. Get yourself an older Bushnell or weaver 4x and I'm sure you will enjoy it. Like Blue said, order from CCS and all their parts are available to you.
