Title: Hawke Sidewinder TAC30 6.5x20 Turret issue?
Post by: charliek on March 01, 2018, 01:20:46 AM
Hi all, have a new Hawk Sidewinder TAC30 6.5x20 that I seem to be having an issue with unlocking the elevation turret.

Windage turret gently and smoothly pulls out and pushes back into lock position. I have rotated the elevation turret to each extreme and in between to several places, and find it almost always very difficult to unlock the turret for adjustment. I have to pull way too hard and when it unlocks, it feels course or gritty, not smooth like the windage.

Seems almost unusable. Has anyone experienced this with their Hawke scope? What also seems odd is that when it begins to unlock, it pulls up far enough to seem as if it would be unlocked in order to rotate it. But it must be pulled hard to unlock "all the way"??

If new, return it to the vendor - otherwise, Hawke has a lifetime warranty.  this does not sound like a user correctable problem.
