To be honest I never noticed it til I seen this thread posted because usually I try to take care of mistakes before 30 minutes goes by anyway.
Yeah Scott, and then we have you. LOL ......... Just messing with ya.
Modify tab after 30 minutes is history ....
When I can actually find a few spare minutes this weekend I'll see if I can find and adjust the setting to give the modify for a bit before it locks, like the classifieds.

If you don't like the layout or selected the wrong images, now you are out of luck.
Allowing editing for a short time would seem reasonable, if possible.
I don't always see my errors right away, and often have to edit. Something to do with ageing eyes apparently...
I can see why infinite modify time is not a good thingOr at least a few hours would be reasonable for that new post.
but 30 minutes is too short a time frame.
I don't see why a post can't be left open for up to a week
before it gets locked. Most sites operate in this manner.
The problem was leaving all posts open that resulted
in this situation.
Thanks life’s goes on with my spelling errors! If I didn't proofread and spell check before hitting the post button I would not want to read my posts since my brain thinks way faster than my fingers can type. ::) ;D
I'm working on a compromise....
I sure did use and enjoy the modify button.
I used it mostly in the first 30 minutes. Quoting myself will work. Thanks for that tip.
It was also helpful to be able to change a price in the subject if the price changed later.
Example: Subject: Gamo Urban $220 at Walmart. Lowered to $209.99. Amazon has lowered to $172.
NOTE: That is just an example. Urban price watchers, don't get excited!

if you READ what you posted to check it .. 30 mins is plenty of time to change it .... if people can't (first) get it right or (second) to read what they posted in order to edit it, it should not be other peoples problem ...I'm with Geoff on this. If 30 minutes isn't enough time to make whatever edit you wanted, then just add a new reply to the thread later, problem solved. I have always freely admitted I'm not the brightest crayon in the box, but I've added plenty of stuff to my own threads later, so it's not hard to do. Too much good info has disappeared from GTA because of disgruntled now ex members and various other reasons.
get it right first time OR (when they get the 30 min thing working) edit after you posted ... sheesh
DEz my feeling is that 48 hours is way more than needed to correct a mistake on your original post 30 minutes to an hour should be more than enough to edit a post. Past that just post a subsequent pst with additional information problem solved ;)
Besides you will never please everyone at 14,858 active members you're attempting to shovel sand against the tide. ;) ;D
Thanks once again Dave..... I'm sure we'll manage. Anything needing added or corrected after the modify goes away can be done with an additional post containing a 'quote' of the original. It shouldn't be a show stopper. And here we all thought you were a knuckle dragging biker like me ;) ;D
Right? Sometimes I even surprise myself. Thanks once again Dave..... I'm sure we'll manage.
