Title: Damaged Yong Heng
Post by: Sprungout on February 19, 2018, 08:11:59 AM
After several tries, finally scored one and it showed up with a large crack in the front housing plate. Hard to tell if it was dropped in shipping or at the factory, not much impact damage to the plate. The seller wants to just send me another front plate, but it was mentioned to me that there could be other internal damage and I should demand a full refund. Having trouble posting the images, it's on the FB page "pcp compressors good bad ugly". Thoughts?

demand the full refund and chances are seller will refund your payment and not want compressor returned...then you can go from there.

And then you are still have a broken compressor.  Before they send the replacement cover, pull the broken cover and inspect the rest of the crank case for cracks.  If it looks good have them send the new cover and ask them if they will cover any other unseen damage if you find more problems.

This is simply one of the risk of purchasing directly from China...IMHO.  Returning items is just not economical for either party.

Who did you purchase it through?  If it's Walmart or AliExpress, you can contact Customer Service or file a dispute and receive a full refund.  My Yong Heng was supposed to be 110V, it arrived 220V.  I contacted the vendor and they weren't willing to make it right.  I contacted Walmart Customer Service and received a full refund and was told to keep the compressor.  I had to buy a voltage converter to make it work, but it's been working great so far.  There are plenty of vendors selling these compressors, even if you have to buy a few parts, you can probably get it working for very little out of pocket.

I would not settle for them sending parts.  That means you payed full price to work on your new compressor.

I got it off EBay, which we all know can go either way for a buyer but usually gets sorted out. It would be nice to get a full refund, but I haven’t seen a cover plate for sale yet so I’d have to track one down. The seller claims he can get one so they are out there.

I would ask for a replacement compressor.  If they refuse, file a dispute with PayPal.  Chances are, they will send a new unit & not want to pay return shipping for the old one.

If you end up needing a front cover one way or another, it's here: https://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/PCP-air-compressor-front-cover/2305020_32851043086.html?spm=2114.12010608.0.0.5e8cf45cNfk7Sb (https://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/PCP-air-compressor-front-cover/2305020_32851043086.html?spm=2114.12010608.0.0.5e8cf45cNfk7Sb)

one additional comment: ask them for a replacement front cover gasket as well - that's easy to mess up when taking it off.
