Title: Epox Badger .40 Cal
Post by: HunterOne on January 25, 2018, 02:30:49 PM
I took this rifle out for the first time this past weekend and I was literally blown away by the power and accuracy. The fit and finish of the rifle is great as well. Although I will be changing the stock, the one that comes on the rifle is of excellent quality.  The barrel and air tube are all cerakoted as well. I am currently shooting 175gr Lee cast slugs at 880-900 FPS on a 3800 psi fill. The rifle is capable of 4300+ but I have not taken it there yet. I will be very soon. I have also ordered a 175gr Lee HP mold for casting. Looking forward to seeing how these perform on game.

Good on ya, T.  Look forward to seeing and shooting it!  Enjoy that gun - give you another chance to get to making lead slugs...

Hello T,

I love mine as well. I got a Richards Microfit for mine. After about a week of sanding and finishing, it makes a big difference, plus, it becomes more yours. I also, for fun, fitted it with a second barrel in .357. It shoots great as well. You need to bring it out to the Farm and shoot with us.

the badger is a straight up killer ! .....  ;D  ... I like mine a lot ...

I do my own casting ...196g flat nose -bobs design bullet accurate mold

150 g  lee mold

92g round ball  UK brass mold

The badger is a miniature close version of the xp ranger  45 ... with out  the 3 power settings and custom trigger ...

if I can push the 196 to 960fps ..we will reach 401.19 fpe ... I am hanging around 350 right now

just think I only payed $599 ... ;D one of the 1st batch ...man was that a good deal ....

I really like this rifle but would prefer it in .357. I may go your route.

My SN is 005. Also one of the first. Have you replaced the bolt pin that likes to bend? They said some of the first had this problem and sent me a replacement pin. Good guys, great gun, and for the money, a steal!!

I've thought the Badger would be a great big bore ever since it came out, plenty of knockdown power for sure.  A person doesn't normally take a gun like this out to target shoot anyway, if I did get one the only time I'd shoot at a target would be to sight it in.

I would be that weird individual who likes to target shoot with this one ...  ;D

I know what your thinking... its big bore /expensive to shoot/ single shot ... how I counter the cost is to cast all my own bullets/ round ball  ... I can target shoot reclaim the lead, and simply re -cast again ... and when you do that it is very cheap to shoot the big bore bullet shooters  ... and a lot of fun... ;D

I target shoot mine ALOT.  As I've always said, A hunting gun CAN BE a target gun too.  WHY NOT?  When I do hunt with mine, I am UBER confident when i pull the trigger.

Good stuff and Congrats H1!  You have purchased a great gun.

Very true!!If i had a nickle for every shot I put threw my Recluse I could buy 10 of them! Most the time i hunt with it now its all head shots, even out to 75 yards.During the winter I take it and my 257 and shoot spinner targets at 100-150 yards a few hours a week.I could not do it if I were not casting

And to also compress your own air is frosting on the cake. I explain this to powder burners all the time and I think they get a bit jealous LOL

I target shoot mine a lot. At $13/100 for 140 to 220 gun slugs it’s still 3 times cheaper shooting than most of my reloaded PBs. Than by casting my own, it’s ever cheaper. Why wouldn’t you target shoot it? The lead is recyclable and the air is free. Agreed, not every one wants to cast their own.

My 257 escape is more powerful then a 22 lr and I can throw lead cheaper then when a box of 50 (wildcats, thunderbolts, golden bullet) were 99 cents a box!I love it!!!!

here is a pile of 196g flatnose / round ball I cast .... lets call it cheap feed for the badger ,compared to buying bullets .... the 196g flat nose is a really good match for the badger ... Bob R... designed ... in a accurate mold ... there are some  extreme .40 owners on here that use this same bullet casted in a hallow point  and found it to be a fantastic shooter all the way around .... casting is interesting, and fun ... the best part is you get to shoot a lot more for the $$$...

Does anyone know who's making AO ring rebuild kit? My friend down here in louisiana's gun is starting to leak.
