I finally got my 25 meter br gun today. Tank is the larger one regulated at 2000 psi and a 177 lw barrel. The rest is made using drill press and lathe. Stock is made of Philippine mahogany. For stock payment we traded for my hand held paintball Chrony. I will finish the stock starting with 1000 grit sand paper working my way up. I’m not a wood worker but I do know how to sand. Is there a type of sealer to use after I sand the wood smooth? The guy in the pic is a friend and also a gun maker. He is booked but squeezed me in on the stock. He calls it his version of the bm 500. I have to agree very similar.

The mahogany looks nice. Ken, are you bringing that back to the USA? How she groups?
-
That's a beauty for sure!! That also looks like a Sumo action!!

I haven’t shot it yet. I’m borrowing now his portable Chrony to take to the range. I got some jsb monsters 13.43 and 10.34 to try out and adjusting the hammer spring with these pellets to see which one or not will group at 25 meters. Yes plan on bringing my bull pup ( see in my posting on the bullpup update on what I did) this one and the side opening breech gun back to the u.s. I’m just going to break down the guns and put in the luggage wrapping them with my clothes and hope for the best that they make it back undamaged🤞🏽

I’m not familiar with the sumo action?

Kinda similar to the Bulldog breech, isn't it?

that looks incredible ! it does look like a sumo , which was a gun designed by Chip smith ( awesome titanium machinist ) about a decade ago that weighed 25 lbs and was a lights out bench rest gun at that time. I guess we need to get our drill press skills up to par here in the states (-'

No, it is definitely not a bulldog.
Sorry, it was a discussion in another thread that Tom and I were having about converting a Bulldog action to fit in a rifle.
Your picture does give me an idea on how it would sit in a rifle stock, though. Thx.

Wow!!! That is one sweet rifle.

I see the resemblance with the action. The Filipinos can look a a picture and replicate it or come up with their own designs. I give credit where credit is due. My hat off to them for their passion in designing and shooting airguns as much as we do.

Mr. Ken, there are lots of airgun maniacs in Cebu City. I myself am a Filipino but I don't have locally-made airguns in my repository. I imported some from the US and bought some from PB Dionisio in Davao City. My latest, an Air Arms, was purchased from Precision in Makati, Manila. Randy Paronda, the owner, sells high end airguns including RAWs, Steyrs, Daystates, and Atamans. I am now in the US, btw.
There is also a barrel called DBB acronym for Davao Brass Barrel. The maker does very nice work, too, and his barrels are very accurate.
Good luck on your shooting!

Do you have contact info? Hmm brass barrels sounds interesting🤔
-
I will get in touch with you again today. Need to get the maker's cellphone number first from a bud of mine in the Philippines.
Btw, if you would ask the maker of your ag he would know what a DBB is but better that you contact Mang Bebot (if I remember his name correctly) himself.
Have a good one!

Richard thanks for the info. A ph # would help. Having a single shot cocking receiver already made and a stock is being made for it but no barrel for it and I would like to try that barrel in this gun😎

639264993166 Mang Bebot's cellphone number. He lives in Tagum City but ships his barrels thru JRS Couriers anywhere in the Philippines, Mr. Ken.

His barrels are best mated with JSBs or Air Arms, btw.

Ken, I have. Got airgun friends all over the Philippines because I sold parts imported from the US when I was still there. I was one of the go to guys there. When it came to optics, Bushnell Elites and Leapers were one my top sellers. Mounts were mostly BKLs and then there were flashlights, lol! These stuff are pretty expensive in the Philippines, usually going more than 2x the price.
Those DBB barrels will give Lothars a serious run for the money, I am serious. They can be had for around $35-40, iiric, and in lengths and diameters of your choice. Also, pellets are zippier when launched through these barrels compared to those from Lothars. One of my buds, using the same platform, chronoed both barrels of the same length, and the DBB catapulted projectiles faster. Well, brass has less drag, I suppose.

Bentong thanks for the link the first and second pictures along with the pistol is the exact action cocking I have 😳 waiting on the stock and now a brass barrel😎

Richard do you know Joe Tugan he is well known in Cebu city for airgun to firearms he is in his 70’s. him and his son were a father and son team teaching his craft until his son passed away from a heart attack in 2016 he was in his 40’s😕. Joe finished my bullpup 10-17. Placed an order with him in April 2017. He wanted to make a ataman copy of their bullpup and I agreed. Told him that I will be back to the Philippines 11-17. I was totally impressed with his craftsmanship😳 Joe was backed up with orders of my bullpup that he made for me. On 1-1-18 Joe suffered a mild stroke. I was having him making me a stock for a fx monsoon but he has loss weight and is still trying to recover. I think he was taking on to much orders and trying to meet the demands. To much of a work load😓. So basically this bullpup is one of one and probably the last airgun he made as the doctor told him to take it easy😢 here is a pic of his work

Hatsan at 44 long cylinder with huma reg Lothar Walther barrel 22 cal. 50 shots avg FPS 819 es 29 sd 6 shooting jsb 18.13gr. The range is 42 yards and can put 10 shots rested covered the hole with a 5 centavo which is less than a dime😎😳
-
Bentong bought a used compact kricket 22 that on the action inscribed Ernest Rowe tuned 12-14😳. Very accurate 😎
-
Took some more pictures of my br gun at the range.
-
@ kzz1kaw
you shooting this saturday br match?
-
Here are some groups I shot today at the range😎 these are the groups at 25 meters. Not knowing what pellets the gun likes I had to shoot a few times with each pellets I had on hand. Using a hand held paintball chrony it is amazing by just turning the hst has an influence on pellet accuracy. When I shot the gun for the first time with h&n barracuda match 10.65 it was shooting over thousand fps😳 has to back off the hst down to around 750 FPS then the accuracy started coming around these are my five shot groups with three different pellets. I’m waiting to try out the jsb 13.43 at a slower speed to see what the gun likes fast slow who knows. It’s looking like the jsb 10.34 aa10.3 h&n barracuda March 10.65. I would say that the gun is a shooter😎 I’ve got $600 into this gun and she is a keeper😉
-
Eumel we are day ahead or 13 hours Sunday afternoon here. Just came from the range to get the gun dialed in😎

Ken, I have heard of Joe Tugaon. It seems you are having a good time in Cebu, sir ;D
In Davao City, the go to ag guy is Mang Pepe. He is in his 70s now and I don't know if he is doing his craft still. He used to build all brass c02 airguns w/c were venerated back in the 80s(?). Seen his heirloom piece more than once - so beautiful and has an old world appeal to it! I don't think he is going to sell that one though, lol!
And then there is Boss Tatay Cris Reyes of CPR. That gent is a great shooter and machinist of anything projectile-launching implement. Those airguns he built for himself are truly works of art. I don't believe there is anyone in the Philippines who could surpass the details of his builds. Exemplary machining and finish are so evident in his works that looking at them would make you experience orgasm, lol!I have seen only one ag built outside of the ones he has for personal use though. Check him out, Ken, but I think you do know him. He is very close to the Philippine president, btw.
