I get following error message in my Ubuntu desktop with Chromium and Firefox:
"Sorry Guest, you are banned from using this forum!
This ban is not set to expire."
GTA works fine on my Android mobile and Windows laptop in the same wifi. Are you banning Ubuntu users or what's the problem?
-
Nope...we ban known scammer/spammer IP addresses only. If you can, clear the cache on the Ubuntu desktop and try again.
-
As long as you use the same I.P. address on all three operating systems you shouldn't have a problem.

I use Ubuntu 16.04 LTS and have no issues.

Cool there are other Linux users on the forum. I've been running it since 2000. First Redhat, then Slackware, then Debian. In my old age, I like the ease and utility of Ubuntu. I'm posting via Firefox running on Ubuntu 16.04 right now.
Have fun!

I'm running Ubuntu 17.10 on this laptop and Linux Mint 18.3 on my other one.
-
Ubuntu here as well. No forum issues so far.
-
Ubuntu and Windows on different hardware... no issues on either.
-
Well, I checked IP addresses and all OSs use the same external address as checked by whatsmyip.com, so it can't be that. Cleared caches in Ubuntu browsers and that didn't help. Are there any browser add-ons/extensions that could cause this, I think I have add blocker and popup blocker + photobucket fix installed? All the other web sites are working just fine.
-
Ubuntu 16.04, Firefox and ABP. No issues at all.

Linux sure has been catching on big time in the last several years. With a Linux operating system the old cluttered up hard drive infested with all worms etc. seems to be a thing of the past. I think all Windows OS's are designed to eventually self destruct(they gotta make the bucks on the latest greatest OS), especially with all the hackers working on them all the time. The movie industry uses a lot of linux these days because of the fact of better security.
Opensource is the way to go IMO and it won't be long before I order me a nice solid state hard drive for Linux only.
-
GTA spammers' hunters 'search and destroy' following some characteristics of the target, and I was banned twice.
As far as I could understand, what I had in common with the spammer(s) was not the web browser, but my ISP - Internet Service Provider.
Both times I was rescued by Dave.

My mini tower desk top computer currently has two hard drives that were made for lap tops, one hard drive has Linux Ubuntu loaded and the other has Win7 loaded......

For a while I was using a single "desk top" hard drive that was dual boot with both Linux and Windows, however whenever the Windows partition needed a "re-format and reload" (for whatever reason) I ended up needing to "start all over" by loading Windows and then loading Linux to share the HD. The "normal size" hard drive was also a rather tight fit in my small desk top case which made it a hassle to make connections around the CPU cooler so I opted for the small lap top hard drives.
The reason I even have a Windows operating system on one drive is because my Chairgun, certain CAD, GARMIN, updating of my GARMIN GPS maps, and my flight simulation software (they aren't supported on Linux). I use the outdated copy of Win7 for these applications however I seldom use Windows to "go online" due to "virus issues" I occasionally got even with virus protection running. The Win7 HD never gets updated and it doesn't even get connected to the internet when using it.
Anywhoo..........if the Windows HD gets corrupted (hasn't happened in several years since the internet isn't accessed) it's simply a matter of reformatting the Windows HD and reloading Win from the installation disk and all my important stuff on the Linux drive isn't affected.
There is an application that's very useful for my manipulating images on "airgun forum posts" and it's called GIMP
https://www.gimp.org/ (https://www.gimp.org/)
Origionally developed by Linux it's also available in the Windows format.
Here is a pic that was downloaded and cropped with GIMP before for uploading into my photo hosting program.........

There are quite a few applications that are used for image manipulation but GIMP is a free open source downlaod that can be used with either Linux and Windows.

Same problem here and I use windows 10.What is the solution ?
-
I have someone on Facebook asking the same question. Do we have someone they can email about it or something?
-
Everyone should be able to access the home page. There is a link to contact forum administration.

I'm also having issues from chrome on ubuntu 16.04.3 but firefox is confirmed working. I've tried this from multiple *nix machines with and without a VPN with the same ban message when using chrome. Sounds more like an implementation and design issue than an ISP / IP concern.
-
I had issues when I use a vpn software to keep my isp snooping through my web traffic because net neutrality being rescinded.
I think it's mostly the ip address filtering. That is good for GTA blocking malicious servers etc.

I have a server with Ubuntu 9.03 installed by a tech guy I had doing some work for me. The guy disappeared, I forgot the password and I would sure like to get access to the data, including a very large music library of flacs I spent 100's of hours on.
-
Several things you can try. First, try he default password which is "password" without the quotes.
Here are some other tips.

There are also password recovery programs you can download to a jump drive or disk and boot to that drive. Let us know if any of these help.

Dan,
As long as the drive isn't encrypted you should be able to see the data when connected to another linux box or create an Ubuntu live cd and boot from that. Once you can see your files on the hard drive you're free to do what you want.

I've been using Linux Mint for several years pretty much trouble free, I always use Firefox as a browser too. I'll never ever go back to MS(junk).
