Title: Selling some Air rifles. Whats the best way?
Post by: hennigm on December 26, 2017, 04:26:59 PM
Need to sell 3 of my air rifles.  Marauder, Diana 48 and a Hatsan 135.  All are .22 cal.  Do people ship these?  Of local sale only.  How do you confirm they are at least 18?

Selling 'local' only is really going to limit your options. We air-folk are just not that prolific, vs. standard gun-owners. You likely have a Backpage, and/or a CraigsList site in your area. Those are two great places to start. Obviously, if you're willing to ship them, that opens up the various airgun hobby sites for you, and gets you the best chance of a faster sale.

Shipping full-size rifles USPS is going to run anywhere from $30-$55 depending on the size of your box and the distance to the buyer.  I have taken to separating the stocks from the actions for two reasons. It lessens the chance of an impact during package handling causing the stock to break, usually near the wrist where the metal action 'ends' against the wood. Second, it reduces the overall length of your box to mitigate the charges for having an oversized package. It's perfectly lawful to do so, with no special concerns involved.
