Title: Got a HW30S
Post by: Driften on June 07, 2011, 01:28:07 AM
I bought a HW30S on sale last week at ARH. What a sweet air rifle!
I love it. I put a 3-9x32AO Leapers on it and that is working good. Its my first springer rifle. The only other springer I have owned is a HW70. Otherwise its some co2 and pumps.

So far I have gotten down to dime sized groups at 10m seated and I setup a squirrel target at 20m that I am knocking down 9 out of 10 times. Its time to start putting on the covers to make the drop plate smaller.

This is very addictive.

I bought mine in 1994 when my son showed an interest in shooting. He prefers shotguns now, so the HW30 is back in my gun cabinet. I love shooting it, easy to cock, light recoil, superb accuracy, just a fun gun all around. Mine is the base model, no Rekord trigger, but it works fine. After 17 years with no tinkering, it still shoots H&N Match pellets at 620 fps, and puts them in one hole all day long at 10 meters. I put a cheap scope on it a few years ago, I'm thinking about fitting it with a nice aperture sight.

Congratulations on your purchase, I'm betting the HW30S will serve you well for a long time to come.

I don't think so. After getting it I looked into ordering the insert and it costs more to ship then the price of the insert. So I guess I will wait until I need something to go with it. It would have been nice to have had it as part of the order but that research happened after I decided on which AG.

When I was a kid I had read an article in a gun magazine about Mini-Sniping. I tried with the Daisy 880 that I had, but hitting silhouettes in the backyard was the best I could do with that. Every so often I come back to the idea. So for my 49th birthday (a couple of days ago) I decided to get an air rifle that can do it. I don't need much power for backyard shooting of small objects and a HW30S/R1 seems to really fit. Besides it just fun to go out to the deck and get some target shooting in with out a trip to the range and costs in reloading ammo.

The part is $3.50 and shipping is $9.00. Its not a lot but its still hard to spend more on shipping then the value of the item...

I don't think but I could be wrong he only charges 9$ for springs, seals and other small items are only 5$, you might check with Jim and see! :P
