Title: Monster REDESIGNED vs Heavy at 70+
Post by: skorec on December 15, 2017, 06:09:26 AM
Not only I want to reach more accuracy at longer distances.
My opinion is that one way to reach it  is:

1.   to use higher pellets with better BC ( Heavy, Monster , Beast )
2.   to use most power full air gun  ( unfortunately my gun is able shoot only 40 FPE )
3.   to use slower spin/twist barrel 1:19” or more  ( unfortunately my barrel is 1:17,7” )
4.   longer barrel eliminate also air flow turbulence direct at front of barrel because lowe air presure.
5.   stiffening the barrel because reduce harmonics amplitude ( Artemis SPA M30 is the nice example )

I want to ask the guys who owned the 22.  PCPs ( M10, M11, M22, Bullboss or Gladius Long, Puncher Long ) which are   able to shoot  more then 50 FPE to compare accuracy for Monsters/980 FPS and Heavy/940FPS.

I add here best video about Monsters redesigned

Today I have done the same shooting at 77 yd.
1.   sub MOA with .22 Heavy/950 FPS
2.   3 * MOA with   .22 Monster/850 FPS

Are you using the old style or redesigned monsters? Old style are junk IMO. At 930fps the Taipans Veteran can stack jsb heavy pellets at 50yds and those monsters only 3 of 10 hit a 24"x24" box at 50yds

old style Monster was 20* MOA at 77 yd.

New redesigned Monsters are 2-3* MOA at 77 yd.

I am prity sure than i needonly encrease velocity from 260m/s to 295 m/s

2.   3 * MOA with   .22 Monster/260 FPS

At me is still the same Jambo Heavy are two times more accurate then Jumbo Monster REDESIGNED.
What about you ?

Howdy Skorec!
I did a heavy pellet comparison here:  https://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/index.php?topic=96587.msg902712#msg902712 (https://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/index.php?topic=96587.msg902712#msg902712)

I am interested in the Redsigned Heavies, and the performance out of the Beast.
But it is currently freezing rain/snow here, and PA does not have Redesigned Heavies in stock.
I will revisit this thread come spring.

Otherwise, I am interested in your results!

I got some JSB beasts in last night and I have the redesigned monsters on order from PA but who knows when they'll be here another month or 2? I don't have much time to shoot so 55yds is my Max yardage at home and with all the wind we've been having I don't get much time to shoot for accuracy right now.

It seams that after increasing the speed from 260 to 275 m/s  the accuracy a little bit improved from 3 MOA to 2 MOA.

It was shoting  from 605x16mm choked LW barrel and inside 30 minute after has gone out to +1C air.

Heavies  are still 2-3 times better than Monsters. Best accuracy is between 290-298 m/s. About it the flyers are more then 2 or 3 from 10.
Below 285 m/s the group open over 1 MOA and flyers are still 2 or 3   from 10.

.............
8 Pellets from 10   inside 1,6x10mm at 77 yd is OK ???
