So put your candidates name below and then we will cast votes after Christmas. ALSO I would like to see some small donations if you have something laying around to give to the MOTY  winner as thanks for His/Her service. Please dont feel a need to donate anything your vote is enough!!! Good luck to all candidates!!! If you have something to donate please contact the Administration dont list it here.  Please do not vote for past winners they are already enshrined and there are plenty of people here who need the recognition.

My candidate is Rocker1 David Furr for his generosity and general Help moderating etc.

I nominate Avator (Bill).
His wealth of knowledge and willingness to share is unrivaled.
He spends hours here on GTA helping others and is a pillar to our community!
He buys old guns, rebuilds them, and then sells them to us dirt cheap. All the while helping others by telling what to do to solve their issues.
Plus, even though I have never experienced it first hand, I believe his wife Betty Lou is  a Darn good cook shooter.

I definitely agree with Rocker1 and I would like to add Bob Sterne.

I find myself referring back to Bob's posts quite a bit. I'm also amazed at how much he does for the airgun community as a whole.

+1 for Rocker1 for his overall generosity and would like to add Gendoc because he's always looking out for the well being others here on GTA!

If I refer to my implication on this forum, I would put Bob Sterne to the top..   But recently trough controversed  exchange with Ribbonstone, I look into more of his post and responses and I choose to give him the first place because of his posting are getting out in the GRAY ZONE of airgunning..
THUS pushing the discussion farther and deeper in the refinement of our loved passion..

I nominate William "Billy" Flint.

Billy's knowledge of Benjamin's/Sheridan's is second to none & he shares his knowledge without hesitation. Anyone reading just a few of his posts will quickly learn his extraordinary command of the topic. This obviously didn’t take place over night, on the contrary. Billy has dedicated countless hours in his quest to unlock the mysteries behind these amazing makes/models thought by many to be the pinnacle of pumpers. GTA is fortunate to have him as member.

I would have no issues with Rocker1 or Bob winning,  but my vote is going straight to Travis for the Art SS valve innovation.  I know not many have this valve yet, but once you do, you will see why I say this.

I can honestly say that I like and respect all you folks enough that I honestly can't pick one individually.  I would humbly suggest, however, in fairness to the brilliant contributions of folks like Lizzie, Chickie, maraudinglizard and North Country Gal (by the way, where is north country gal???), we may need to open the gender qualification.

Geez, pretty hard to pick one! Do we get to pick our top 5,lol!?
I'd say for all time most interesting and helpful posts and projects I'd probably have to vote for Bob Sterne, with Jason Nervous Trigger and Ribbonstone close behind, or maybe on par. I'd be hard put to choose between these 3.
Bill Avator is just super, always some helpful words and great humour and laughs! I guess for man of the year I'd vote for him though I'll be leaving these all time favourites out as well as so many other wonderful guys and gals on here.

I would like to add Scott AKA Motorhead.  In-addition to the others already mentioned he is very active on the boards and always ready to help out.  Loyd-SS is another.

There are many categories which makes this so very hard.  Those that bring innovation, member support, forum support both front and back end.  Most of the people mentioned bring a bit of everything.   Lizzie for example brings a breath of fresh air to this forum with her willingness to help and general overall exuberance for life.

Bob Sterne for sure.   He never wrote in dummy sentence.

Thanks  again Bob

But at GTA is  a lot of another guys  who  write also  to the point.

I do not understand only why some of you are testing extra heavy pellets and bullets at so long ranges 50-.
At USA is much more space than at EU.

unfortunately other than a tie there cant be more than 1 winner and Bob can ask to be removed but its your vote so If you want to vote for whom ever do so your entitled to your opinion and vote. There are great people in the balloting so far who deservedly should win. The 5 with the most votes will move into final voting after Christmas. Once again good luck and God bless.

This is always tough. Mainly (and thankfully) we have so many deserving members. We are blessed with that. I can't help but feel I might be slighting one for another by voting. But for me this year the notable contributors are ALWAYS rsterne, Rocker1, nervoustrigger, triggertreat, ribbonstone, oldpro, Lloyd-ss, Motorhead, amb5500c and your entire volunteer staff!!!! There are some you SEE and some you don't, but put in a LOT of hours behind the scene. And again I will say there are MANY more and I don't want ANYONE to think their contributions to this forum were overlooked or not appreciated. I have said it many times and will repeat it over and over. This forum is what the members make it. And every person that posts questions, comments and information ARE what make it the fantastic place it is.
So....thanks as always and carry on.

The way I see it, Bob can't dodge this honor forever.  His ability and willingness to teach his knowledge to the airgun community is unmatched, and as a result many people have enjoyed greater success in this hobby and sport.  Much as great parents make the world a better place through the qualities they instill into their children, so it is with a great teacher.  He inspires others to do the same by way of his example, and in so doing, multiplies his impact on the community.

So yeah, Bob.

As I said before, there are MANY that work hard on your forum that you may not realize. But you enjoy the fruits of their labor. So I want to take this opportunity to thank another fantastic member that stays, for the most part, incognito. Thomas (Roadworthy) spends countless hours helping the staff keep the thousands of threads in their right place and also helping members with his sage airgun advise. One heckova member in my opinion!!!! He did not want the official title but you will see under his name is Honorary GTA Moderator.
Thanks my friend for all you do for the GTA family!!!
Other folks I feel worthy are the GTA sanctioned vendors. They have earned the title and our support. Where would we be without them supplying us with our airgun addiction fix?
Great folks we have here at this place to be proud of!!!!!!!!!!!

Since joining GTA, I have learned a LOT from way too many people, and enjoyed plenty a pleasant and feel good read from many different people. Many members have generously messaged me privately to answer questions and offer information and help without asking for anything in return. A lot of us may be busy with our own lives, yet they take time to volunteer help!
So here is MY nomination for Person of the Year:

All members of GTA who make this a superb forum to share information, and learn more about our hobby!  addiction  hobby!

Listen, TIME magazine can nominate multiple people, why can't we?

Cheers!

TJ

I am flattered by the nominations, but I would like to see the honour go to Lloyd Sikes.... Lloyd quietly works in the background when he isn't overwhelmed with family projects.... His accomplishments include the ePCP system used in the Crosman Rogue (dumbed down by the Crosman bean-counters), and the very first working balanced valve in a PCP.... He helped Tom at AAA on his, and did the prototype development work for Travis on the ART/SS Valve.... He has the uncanny ability to cut through the BS and get to the truth, with extreme knowledge of PCP internal ballistics and materials science.... A perfect example of this is his challenging of the long held idea that 1650 fps was the absolute speed limit for PCPs on air, which he blew away with several shots at over 2000 fps....

Although I have never met Lloyd in person, all the dealings I have had with him show him to be a straight-up guy, with high ethics.... I am proud to consider him a friend, and support him as Person of the Year....

Yep, it would be very hard to pick just one. I am flattered by the kind words from some of you. I don't feel worthy to be classed among so many whom have given so much for so long. I feel that mine are not contributions but merely paying forward what has been so generously given to me as I can.
Would there be a moderator or admin that don't deserve recognition? I think not. Bob Sterne's knowledge and dedication to keeping us safe from ourselves has no comparison. Even when we don't want to hear it... lol
If you're into PCP there are guiding lights. If it's vintage, again, shining stars. And the list goes on and on. Each platform has it's "gurus" and they all share in the Brotherhood of helping each other.

I have to agree with Bob on this Lloyd Sikes is an amazing gentleman and his work behind the scenes has done much to further our Hobby/ Addiction. I also know from first hand contact with Lloyd that he deserves the nomination as does
Mister Migraine ( Bob Sterne ) I feel that both deserve the recognition for their many contributions to the furtherance of this sport.

Well as founder and previous owner of Discos R Us I worked closely with Lloyd mostly in the wood side of things. Making stocks for his Disco and MRod Double tube rifles. Actually this is how Discos R Us was founded. I did and still do supply him with an item that was never for sale on Discos R Us which is the forend for the PRod Double Tube pistol. A very tricky item to make if I have to say so myself.

So my vote is for Lloyd as it was not for Lloyd and his great ideas there would never have been a Discos R Us

Neither is looking for the spot light and both are gentlemen in the true sense . Tough decision  :-\ :-\

Yeah, that's the trouble with the GTA ...........  there are too many good people making valuable contributions ;D.
Now that I think about it, we almost need to have two or three inductees or Honorary Contributors each year.  Otherwise, we're gonna have 10 worthy contributors in the pipeline each year and we'll never catch-up to Thank or Remember many deserving it.

IIRC, so far both inductee's have been remembered posthumously ............

I agree that we should look at contributors as much as moderators and such. I'm an Admin and Mod on 5 or 6 Facebook groups, two of them my own. So I know about what those jobs take. Splitting my time between here and there. That's a busy day unto itself, let alone some airgunsmithing as well. And taking pics and video along the way and editing, etc. Let's not forget this sort of thing...

Just mentioning the contributions of the Admins and Moderators is recognition enough for me and probably most or all of the staff.

This will be a very difficult decision for me to vote for just 1 of the nominees, as I think will be for most members.  All of the nominees deserve special recognition as do several others.  I think the nomination alone speaks volumes of that person's contributions.  I feel extremely privileged to be part of the GTA family and to have learned from these individuals, and hope to continue to learn from them for another decade or 2, or 3.

If I can only vote for one, then my vote goes to Mr. Sikes.
He does more "behind the scenes" development work for the advancement of our sport than most folks here probably realize.

But I also agree there should be an annual "Runners-up" or "Honorable mention" of maybe 3 to 5 notable contributing members.

Wow, so many great candidates already mentioned!

Hmm, well, yes, Bob Sterne is a great choice, as is Travis, or Ezman, all fine candidates...

But if you asked me which of the candidates had the most positive impact on mine and my family's air gun life, then there can only be one choice this year, and that is for the notorious Rocker1, Mr. David Furr...

David's products have changed all my pre-chargers for the better, making my shooting quieter and more pleasant, for me, my family, friends and neighbors!

By next year I may be singing another tune, we'll see once I have a few of Travis's valves installed, but this year, in my opinion, and my experience, Rocker1 is "Da Man"!!

:-) chickie

I think David F. has to get my vote. After atrending a few fun shoots, it was quite clear how commited he is to this venture. All the heavy posters and foundational members deserve huges props but considering his tenure and passion, I wish to see Rocker1 take the spotlight he deserves it.
Sincerely,
C Mitchell

Travis, Lloyd, David, Bob, and Marty2 are my five nominations.  I wanted Dave on my list too, but understand he won last year and cannot be.

Lol, that was my understanding,  but hope I am wrong.

I am also extremely honored and humbled that my name was mentioned,  but know myself I don't stack well in the pile.

Re ignited my childhood about 4 years ago by way of the airgun. I visited a few related forums and facebook sites. Ultimately I would always return to the GTA. After a short time I came to the GTA exclusively. I find all I need and then some here. For me it's the whole experience that would be something less without any one of the members here. I don't think I could narrow it down to one. So, my vote goes to everyone.

I would like to vote for Bob Sterne. I truly appreciate the wealth of knowledge he shares. I have succesfully tuned several air rifles based on what I have learned from him and others here. All are deserving but Bob puts things in a way that helps me understand what is going on inside of my rifle when i shoot. I would still be sitting on factory settings on all of my rifles if it werent for the amazing members of the GTA. Looks like I’ll be here a while so i can vote each year to get everyone honored for what theyve helped me with and shared. Thank you everyone for all of the help and for enabling my addiction.

stonykill for his dedication to making lower-tier airguns like the Daisy 880 more fun. I look at these "lesser" guns- and the work done to them by those relatively new to the hobby/sport of airgunning- to be a 'gateway' step in the process of becoming fully entrenched in airguns. He's been away for awhile, hope all's well with him and his family...

And I'd like to take a minute to posthumously thank Bob Werner for his contributions to airgunning and this site we all love. A Charlie Da Tuner trigger was my first modification I ever did to an airgun as an adult. His positive effect to the hobby cannot be overstated.

Had dinner with my Mom and Step-Dad... Waitress said "This is always awkward to ask ... but Senior Discount?"
Step-Dad says "Heck yea!"
She says  " I meant him." and looks me in the face.

Mom about spit out her coffee.

I never get asked.... maybe it's because I tend to whistle, sing and skip everywhere I go.
Or maybe because one could always hear Betty Lou from the next isle over... "You don't need that" or "Put that down".
