Title: Bore Butter ?
Post by: floridaboy on December 09, 2017, 02:37:24 PM
Would it be safe to put a little bore butter on a patch and run it through my barrel?

From Google -
Thompson Center Natural Lube 1000 Plus Bore Butter is a biodegradable all natural lubricant which contains no petroleum-based oil or additives. It reacts differently (chemically) to the combustion of blackpowder, producing far less "tar like" fouling. It can also be used to field lube bullets. Bore butter is an excellent rust preventative on external surfaces of any firearm.

Being an old "front stuffer" I've learned some people love it and others hate it.

Being non-petroleum, all I can say is it SHOULD do no harm ... As with all lubes and protectants, YMMV - Your Mileage May Vary.   ;)

Cheers,

From my experience with bore butter and muzzleloaders, I can tell you that it is a good rust preventative.  Thanks for the thought, I will try it.  Here in the midwest, compressing air precipitates water.

Yeah, I love it for my black powder guns and I figured it would be okay for air rifles. Just checking.

I also use bore butter in my black powder guns but haven't tried it for airguns.
