I got these targets earlier this year: https://www.amazon.com/5sc-IHMSA-Metallic-Silhouette-Targets/dp/B00ROB02EC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1512838306&sr=8-1&keywords=1%2F5+NRA+metallic (https://www.amazon.com/5sc-IHMSA-Metallic-Silhouette-Targets/dp/B00ROB02EC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1512838306&sr=8-1&keywords=1%2F5+NRA+metallic)
Got me to thinking of a alternate FT competition.
The attached are submitted for your consideration or input.
I would like to get a local shot together next year following these base ideas.
Any and all questions, comments or concerns are welcomed and appreciated.

"Field Target" is a game defined by metallic FALLING silhouettes with hit zone holes, through which pellets are fired. The targets are remotely reset to the ready position after being knocked down.
The airgun silhouette targets you have are not suitable (and not allowed by rule) in FT, because they are not knock-over types of silhouettes, and not remotely resettable.
Suggest you post this in one of the other gates within the "Target shooting" category. I think you will get better answers (and better interest) there.

Interesting!
If you presented this proposal to a group of existing silhouette shooters, they might really enjoy the novelty of the format ... especially for their off-season or for promotional fun shoots to gather new shooters into the ranks.
The simpler you can make the scoring, the better.
Good luck,
Bob

Thank you for your response.
I was looking for a way to meld a few different aspects of air gun competitions, open up different rifles, powered scopes, etc.
Next year I will put it into practice.
Right now, there is over a foot of snow out there.

HAAA!
Yup, could be difficult to find your targets after you shoot them off the stand and into the snow.
Here's to Spring 2018!

Just some constructive criticism ....
One shooter and 20 minuets does not sound attractive IMO ... folks come to shoot ! and watching & waiting for others in turn is not shooting.
This is one of the merits of actual FT .... everyone is shooting at the same time pretty much.
Another being the CLOSED RANGE required while a manual reset of targets happens ... again a time killer for those wanting to shoot.
On the cheap is good, but would give more thought in finding a way to get more shooters active between the required resets.

Scott

Thank you for your input Scott!
Much appreciated.
To keep $$ down, I was considering BYOT (Bring Your Own Target) and have more than one lane for shooters, so you have a few to several people shooting all at once.
Again, it is just a rolling idea, bringing different aspects of the shooting disciplines into play.
Oh, and 20min was a totally pull it out of me arse time limit. Could be 8min or 12min if one chooses.

I am always up for ideas on shooting games and this sounds fun.
I also am lucky enough to 100+ yards of flat field with a hill to shoot towards.
I down loaded your rules and range attachments.
Please keep me posted if you move this to another gate here.
That said, here is a thought to reduce the "Down Time"
I see these targets are made of mild steel.
One could weld, braze, or even bolt a hinge to the base and then mount the other hinge end to a short piece of 2X10.
Drill a small hole in the target, thread some kite string, or fish line through the hole, knot it on the back side and run it back to the shooting lane.
Maybe even a screw eye in front of the target into the 2X10 and thread the string through that to help the angle of leverage.
"Presto" re-settable target.

Thank you for your response and input!
As for the rules, have at it and make mods as you see fit, makes it better experience for everyone, and please let me know what you do/did differently.
For Christmas, the wife got me a dueling tree target.
It uses a spring.
I was thinking of doing kinda like what you are suggesting with the hinge (and Scott's input), but then a spring allows the target to fall back SOME (enough for shooter/score keeper) to know it is a hit. And then it pops-back up into position, and the shooter can see where he hit on the target (a fresh coat of white paint would have to be applied for each shooter. I have a can of fast drying white paint that only takes 10 min to dry), and market accordingly in his data book (I am borrowing from my experience shooting NRA High Power).
Again, have to wait for the snow to melt and go out and play!
Thank you again!

Some Titanium dioxide mixed with baby oil make a grease paint that doesn't dry. It's used on steel targets and applied with a roller.
No wait time. ;)
Check out how it is used on "bell targets"
