That's the dumbest website I ever saw.  A lot of the scopes have no mention of what the magnification is ????

The last five digits of the model # indicate power/objective diameter. The prices are enticing..

Yep the website needs more details, but I've heard they have great glass for the price and they are on sale so...

The model numbers do indeed indicate scope power.  Read the description and you'll learn they have etched reticles and side focus adjust.

Many of these scopes have sold for about $350.  The $100 range is a giveaway.  These scopes are being phased out and replaced with the newer version which will be in the mid $300 range or higher.

I didn't need one but the price was too good to pass so I ordered one.  Yes, they are fine on springers.  I have their 6-24 X 50 on my Diana 48.

Well for the price I had to order a 8/32/50 scope at 105.49 with free shipping its a steal for sure.

Just wish the FFP scopes were on sale.

I checked it out, the scope is long, may be an issue for some applications. I might give them a call tomorrow, for that $$ can't go wrong. I had a Sun Optic 4X16, decent scope for the $$ IMO. Thank you Pablo!

Are there sidewheels available for these?
Title: Re: Sun optics sale
Post by: Geoff on December 06, 2017, 12:42:12 PM
Just ordered via phone since the page said INDIANA was an international order and it could not be processed.  rep said he would let IT know about the issue.

he confirmed they are airgun rated, including springer  "we made them for airguns"

comes with sidewheel  "on most of them"  it sounded like some did not have the sidewheel, though i did not ask specifically when he said "i will make sure you get a sidewheel"

also said he would toss in a spare battery

he did mention they had scope rings with windage and elevation adjustments on them ... i did not ask about them since i hope to not need them

he did say they were upgrading, thus the lower price

How do these scopes stack up to UTG?  They do seem on the lighter side, which makes think that they may not be as durable???

Looking for a little advise, which one would work best on a Gamo Coyote? Keep going back and forth between the 4-16 x 50 and the 6-24 x 50

Typical shooting would be at 50 yards and under. Ocassionally/rarely stretching it out to 100.

The Bushnell 3-9 legend planned for the yote is ending up on unexpected Urban instead.

Received my 8-32x50 today. This model does not come with a sidewheel...other than that like Mike said it is loonnggg but, it is light and well balanced, nice clear optics and the sight picture is easily attained. Well worth the $106 including shipping.

Well, I, and some guys I shoot with, have 7 Sun scopes coming. I talked to Jim from Sun Optics and he seems a very nice guy and straight shooter. Sounds like he's  been in the optics game for a long time and has worked for several optics companies. We ordered several of 3 different models. 8-32x56, 8-32X63, and 8-32x50. I'll report back. Should be interesting because I'll have opinions from several different shooters. I may have to make a post in the optics gate but I'll key in here first.

Nope no side wheel with these TAC IV scopes. A UTG side wheel does fit very well on the SF knob so cheap options are available.

I believe the 8-32x56 comes with side wheel as does the 8-32x63. 8-32x50 does not. We bought what was left of the 56mm bell but he still has some of the 63mm.

Post by: Geoff on December 10, 2017, 07:06:51 PM
My 8-32x56 came with a side wheel attached and a lens cap with rubber connectors.  the plastic on the cap is cracked so the band slips out.  Took some of that "magic" 3 second adhesive and "fixed" .. as long as it holds up over the next couple of days i will be ok with the fix.   If it fails i will call them about a replacement.

I'm feeling a little foolish.  I jumped on an 8-32x50 to use for FT, but didn't notice close focus is 20 yards until I unwrapped the scope.

My 6X24X50 arrived this morning. This will be a "back up" scope for me, not going to mount it, so just some quick observations. Light in weight for it's size, no side wheel, etched glass reticle much thicker than I'd like. Rings look like throw aways, AO is smooth, not too stiff, windage/elevation clicks seem OK. I'm looking forward to reviews after folks use them for a while.

the cap fix failed, so called SunOpticsUSA .. woman apologized for the problem and is sending one out ASAP ... also mentioned the invoice said spare battery but i did not get one.  told her that was no biggie as i can get one .. she said, oh no .. i will send one with the scope caps and apologized for it not getting put into the box ...

i even double checked the shipping box to make certain it was not lying inside

GREAT customer service from them on a discounted scope

I just ordered 2 of the CS2983263 riflescopes for $141.99 each and free shipping.  They are the LONG RANGE TAC 8-32x63mm with the internal bubble level, springer rated, lifetime warranty and focus down to 10 yards.

I called to place my order since I was getting the "international" error too.  They are located in Texas.  Melissa was a pleasure to deal with and we had been going back and forth to try to resolve the issue.  She escalated the issue to the commerce department and they said they found the error and are working on it.  She apologized and asked if it was ok to call her with my order.

All told it's been a great experience.  I had the same great customer support when I was inquiring about an Air Atac 6-24x50mm I ended up buying from Amazon.

Thanks,

Taso

Ok, quick check in. I mounted my 8-32X56 to my AA S400. It's a BIG scope to be certain but man do I like it. The glass is clear and bright. The interior bubble level is excellent. There is a little bit of play in the side focus wheel but it does operate smoothly as do the sharp clicks of the elevation and wind age adjustments. I'm more than happy with this scope.  I'm considering buying a fixed power 42X60 for benchrest competition. We ordered 8 scopes in all. I'll check back in after I shoot with the group and relay their opinions as well.

My riflescopes  were delivered today.  Before I forget, the international issue seems to have been fixed.  I ordered three of the Airgun Scope Mount 11 mm Recoil Stop Blocks without any issue and have already received a tracking number.

So back to the scope.  Ok, I knew they were going to be 63mm.  I thought in my mind they would be slightly bigger than my 44mm objectives.  They are huge!  lol

It ok, as long as there are high enough rings available.  I wanted a bigger exit pupil at high powers than the 44mm objectives could give.

I don't have a lot of scope experience but I normally like a lot of magnification so I can see what I'm shooting at.   ;D  My astigmatism always throws a wrench in everything.   :(

Primarily I was looking for a riflescope that would focus down to 10 meters and handle springers for favorite pellet testing.  Hopefully I will be able to put one of these scope through pellet testing and report back.

Eventually I'd like to take a shot at 100 meter shooting and testing.

Thanks,

Taso

Butler Creek lens covers are fairly inexpensive, just measure at both ends and order accordingly so you have a matched set.

As typical as a mildot reticle could be I'd say. I tried to take pics but very difficult.
Truck tire lasered at 74 yards, scope on 8X magnification. (Through a dirty window :o) tried to take one at 32X but wasn't happening...

I'm just a basic backyard shooter and plinker - don't really like having to adjust an AO when shooting different distances- bought  a 3X9x32
with  a 50 yard parallax for $46 including shipping -very happy . Plus I have the added bonus of purchasing from  a company with a good reputation that can be easily communicated with.

Well, as previously posted, we ordered 8 scopes from Sun optics. Everyone was so happy with their scope that put together another order of 6 or 8 more, not sure what the count is up to now. These scopes are a great bargain.  I ordered a 8-32x50 this time.  Read the specs carefully as the scope I ordered only
focuses down to 20 yards which is not a problem for what I want it for. Call and talk to Jim if you have questions or need to clarify specs, he's a great guy and easy to do business with.

Like I said in an earlier reply, I ordered two of the LONG RANGE TAC 8-32x63mm scopes.  I have a question about the turrets.  My turrets float above the windage and elevation mechanics.  To make any adjustments I have to push the turret towards the main tube to engage the gear an then make my adjustments.  I've never experienced a scope like this.  All my previous scopes were the turret was directly attached to the mechanics/gears.

Is this how the scope works or am I a big dummy and doing something wrong?  I checked the included owners manual and there is not mention of these floating turrets.

I also just ordered two of the 6-24x50mm TAC IV 30MM TACTICAL SCOPE - CS27-62450.  I am done buying rifle scopes for a long time unless it's some infrared or automatic trajectory calculating rifle scope.   ;D

Thanks,

Taso

Just received my 6x42.

I tried to use the 4x32 that came with a box store springer. Wasn’t that clear and wouldn’t focus down to 11ish yards.

This is the first magnified glass I’ve ever intentionally bought. Was worried about lower light performance, but it seems pretty clear and has a 6+mm exit pupil.

Focuses down to 11yards- or close enough. Now to turn the parallax down and get some butler creek flip caps. Good quality. Thanks for posting. Happy.

It would be cool if they could split the turret so that the adjustment was floating but the indicator stayed where you left it.

Do the 6-24mm TAC IV's have the same turret as the Long Range Tac?

Hey Taso,
I bought the tac IV 8-32x50 and the turrets are similar in that you have to pull up on the turrets to engage the gears that adjust  the reticle, and then push down to disengage.  The difference with the tac IV is that each turret has 3 grub screw that lock it from being able to be pulled up. You can decide To either snug the grub screws after you have zeroed, or keep them loose for tool free adjustments.

I have a small update on my LONG RANGE TAC 8-32x63mm scopes.  I mounted the first one to a rifle to do some pellet testing and found that it will not focus down to 10 yards as advertised.  So I pulled the second one out of the box and it also would not focus down to 10 yards.

I focused the eyepieces so that the reticles were in focus and tried the parallax adjustment but my targets would not come into focus.  ADD:  I tried focusing at 8 and 32 magnification.

I contacted Melissa at Sun Optics and she quickly emailed me a return label so that the scopes could be checked out as they should focus down to 10 yards.  They received the scopes on 2/06/2018 so hopefully I will hear back from them soon.

Taso,
Did you get the scopes back yet?  Am thinking of purchasing one of these that focuses below 20 yards.  The only other one in the 50mm or above may be the 3x12x50 (does not say on website).  All the other large objectives say down to 20 yards.

I have not heard anything back from them.  I did buy an Air A Tac 8-32x that does focus down to 10 yards but it is now discontinued.  The other 6-24x's I bought will not focus down to 10 yards but they weren't supposed to.

I will send another follow up email requesting a status.  I will keep everyone updated.

Thanks,

I have an update from Sun optics on the 2 Long Range TAC 30MM W/BUBBLE LEVEL - CS2983263 scopes that I returned because they would not focus down to 10 yards.

Their response was:

On the scopes you returned that particular size will not focus below 20 yards because of the large objective.

Before I ordered them the sales person and her engineer assured me that they would focus down to 10 yards at 32 magnification.

They offered me a different scope or a refund and I opted for the refund.  I think I will pick up the 20x Super Sniper scope that I've always wanted.   ;D

Just out of curiosity, why do you need a scope to focus at 32 power at only 10yds?  ???

Habanero69er,

Need? :o  Not need but want.   ;D

I have only one high powered springer rated riflescope that will focus down to 10 yards and I wanted a couple more.  Every time I want to do pellet testing on a springer I have to take that off it's current rifle.

I do my pellet testing and 99% of my shooting indoors at around 12 yards.  Outdoors I only have about 25 yards to shoot in my yard anyway and can not setup targets at that range.

Thanks,

Taso
