Very tempting........just because I already have a decent collection of scopes ::)
-
wow thats a great price for a side focus. if it wasnt just a standard crosshair (without mildots) id be all over it.
-
I have been looking for a 4-16X in either a 42 or 44 size with side focus.
This fit the bill, thanks for the link!
P.S. Free shipping to boot!
-
Thanks for the info...just picked one up. Yep, wish it had mildots but hey, it'll be a good back-up.

I just brought one home from my local Academy. Not a bad scope at all.
Be aware, the focus knob must be pulled out to turn it!! The turrets are the same way, as are most these days.

I like it and will ask for it for Christmas from my son if the pic of the reticle is accurate and not the one one the BSA and Midway site... heck midway description says etched and wire.. :o
https://www.midwayusa.com/product/632084/bsa-catseye-rifle-scope-4-16x-44mm-side-focus-duplex-reticle-matte (https://www.midwayusa.com/product/632084/bsa-catseye-rifle-scope-4-16x-44mm-side-focus-duplex-reticle-matte)
I grew up with the fine wire reticle for .22lr so not being mil-dot is not a big thing to me...but I do like the wide narrow portion rather than the Duplex reticle shown at midway... so I hope the academy depiction is correct...
Right now I have a fine wire 70's japan 4x32 on My BSA Buccaneer .177... would like to Have a BSA scope on it but the only BSA scope I have is the .22 special an it really not worthy(got it free or would feel cheated it is distorted that bad).. :(
But the cats eye for the price and with reviews being pretty good even if it is the more normal tight duplex reticle I think I want it...

I am fine with the duplex reticle shown on Achedmy, but Allied Express LINKY (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/New-BSA-Optics-Catseye-4-16x44-Side-Parallax-Fast-Focus-Multi-coated-Duplex-R19-Reticle-Hunting/1925794830.html) shows this on the same scope.

I will let you know when it gets here ETA: Monday the 4th.

Thanks for sharing , ordered 1 for My Gauntlet .
-
Different sites show a different reticle on it ..... Even the BSA site shows it as a Duplex ... I'll have to wait to get it to find out.
Cheaper than dirt, for plinking it is perfect.
Cheers

It shows "out of stock online".
-
Guess my son got the last one he was able to order it... Due here on the 5th...
-
I guess they cleared them out! It shows available at some stores.
-
Standard wire duplex.
-
I picked up a couple of these scopes last night on my way home from work.... Very nice scope for the money.
-
Back to $100 and out of stock online
-
Mine arrived today and this is the reticle...

Not the one Academy showed on the advertisement...
So it is going on the new-2-me Sentry that will have other optics aids... ;)
-
My Buc is now all BSA including scope rings.. ;D
150 yards 16x slightly foggy morning... the hand held camera is the cause of out of focus much clearer by eye... just thought I would show the actual reticle... would prefer the wide but I can work with it as is .. ;)

Got mine yesterday, all sealed with BSA seals on both sides of the box, wrapped up and packaged.
Opened the box, unwrapped only to find a LOT of oil around the eyepiece and the front bell. Not on the glass though. I unscrewed the back cap, but the front one was stuck because of the oil on the threads (it is THICK oil - not watery). Took me 15 minutes and a LOT of patience to unscrew it, because I was afraid of breaking the little handle!
Once cleaned up, I looked it over, and through. Not too shabby (for the price) although there is no mention anywhere that the side wheel ALSO has to be pulled out to turn (like the turrets) never had that before on at least 5 brands of side wheel scopes.
Fairly clear image, good glass - even at full power. Controls are fairly smooth - after turning a few times. A lot of gold paint overspray ? around most areas. Not a problem really .....
Anyone else come up with similar issues?
Cheers

None what so ever.... ???
Mine also came with BSA seals on both ends of the box. Gold paint was crisp lettering, no detectable overspray. While the front lens cover was slightly stiffer that the rear, not much. I attributed it to the front being larger and a "catseye" knob in the center while the rear being smaller and having the knurl around the outer circumference (better leverage on a smaller OD).
But no oil or grease on the exterior.
I did read up on the scope before purchasing and saw the side focus know needed pulled like the elevation and windage knobs, so that was no surprise. BUT...
The yardage marks are not accurate. 15 yard setting is still slightly blurry at 20, close at 25. I do still need to adjust the parallex for my Rx glasses.

I grabbed one of these scopes. Everything looks like a legit BSA scope, not a knock-off.
I didn't have any oil or gold over spray.
I don't like the front cover. Off and on suc. The rear cover is fine and have other BSA scopes like that.
Mine did not focus down to 10yds for my basement range. At 4X it is almost in focus.
Clarity is decent for this cost range.
It is not as light as the spec claims, but most scopes aren't.
