Title: Scope for a FWB 300
Post by: ssbn617 on November 16, 2017, 10:59:34 PM
Need help with a scope for a FWB300 work target use .
Currently have a Bushnell 4 x 16 target on it but the bell is tight over the loading port.
Is there a scope out there that will be easier to load pellets into the rifle?
Any help is welcome.
Mitch

Hi,

I could recommend the Leupold EFR , or the pretty gloss fine duplex dot scope Clearidge Ultra RM.

I had the same problem.  Sp put the Clearridge scope on it.  It's been there about 5 years and hasn't moved nor failed to perform perfectly.  It sits just behind the loading port.

Any scope less than 12" long will probably work.  If price is an issue, Look at the Centerpoints - cheap at Walmart.

See my signature block for details.

I have a Falcon T50 on mine, with a sportsmatch mount, no problem to load

The Clearidge duplex dot is super small, and that is good for putting a pellet through the same hole over and over.

I have a CP 9x32 with mil-dot style reticle on mine.
Not too much harder to load pellets.
I guess a question that needs asked.... What yardage do you plan on shooting and what magnification are you looking for?

Example: If you are shooting 50+ yards and want a 4-16x A/O with a 50mm objective lens.... good luck!
But at 50 or less a 3-9x32 is much easier to accommodate.
A/O is preferred but it does add mass to the Obj endbell.

Mine is a set 9 power and a 32mm  without A/O.
But I shoot 35 or less with it.

I shoot 25 yards outside and 50 feet indoors. The peep sights are a pleasure you use but want to practice with a scope for local matches. Plus using a scope I can actually see what I hitting as opposed to relying on my binoculars.
Scott, thanks to you and your interest in a 300 I ended up buying one. Thanks a million 😊.

Wait... was your avatar a bare chested guy shooting an M-14 on a beach?

leapers  / UTG has some compact scopes that you might look at.  Bug-Buster is 3-9x32.  Their Compact scope is 4-16x 44 and only 11.2" long.

I am not familiar with their quality as haven't used them but have seen numerous comments about people having success with them.

Yes that was me bare chested , but I was next in line to shoot the m14. It was topside on my submarine near the Bahamas. We were having swim call and some yachts started to get too close. A couple shots across the bow did the trick! Wow, sure couldn’t do that these days.

I tried an Hawke Airmax 7-12x40 AMX on one of my FWB 300's and liked it so much they're on all five of my FWB 300's.

Good enough quality ( for me ) , reasonably priced so they don't break the bank, and good warranty.

I should hope not.

Last Sunday night I sot my first 10M indoors since the FWB300S refinish.
My eyes are screwed... have been for 45 years.
That said the C/P 4X32 scope I had mounted earlier was a catastrophic failure. Being NON A/O All I could do was line up the cross hairs on a blurr of a target. :-\
I think I am going back to the Dioptler for the winter.  :-[

At 10 meters diopter sights are it. When I can get a AAT200, it will be scoped for target practice and pest control. My beloved FWB 300 will have the Air Force rear sights back on for the range.

Ps
I can’t really shoot10 meter as my spine wasn’t really put together good enough to handle it.
Maybe te AAT200 might be light enough.?

After my recent S400, a T200 is now on my "want list".

I have a Simmons .22 Mag 3x9 on mine and it works well. Cheapo I got at a gun show for $25
At 3X it will focus down to about 25'. The mount gives me enough clearance for loading but it may be just a bit higher than it could be...
