Have a LEAPERS 3X9X50 ON THERE.
Was thinking it is a little over kill.
What are the opinions on a red dot scope?
I'm under the impression that this is at most a 50 yard gun.

Hi B, i've been enjoying one of these US made Krugers from optics planet. They are not all made in the US, check the individual descriptions to see which models are assembled here. They are VERY light and bright, seem to be extremely well made and have a similar or the same turrets as the Zeiss plus they are $CHEAP!!. These are actually made/owned by Columbia Sportswear out of washington state. They are made/assembled rather suspiciously just miles from the leupold plant and are said to have ex employess of bushnell, leupold and burris working for them. Mine is the 2X8x32 but works fantastic on my 201. J free shipping too ;D

Bluzjammer,
Are you using the Dragon for Hunting or for Targets, Or Both? The Dragon Slayer used to come with a Leapers
4-16x50 AO scope, rings, collapsible/extendible bipod as a Combo from Pyramyd Air before it was discontinued.
My friend got his combo with a Leapers 3-12X44 30mm scope, rings, extendible/collapsible bipod. Then he put
a Walther 3-9x44AO blue-illuminated scope That he had laying around from a unused .25 Falcon Hunter. But after
3 Scopes he wound up with a Bug Buster 3-9X32 AO Mill Dot RGB Illuminated Scope and it works Quite well for
Hunting under his conditions and fits his needs well. Hope it will give you some positive Options for assessment
on locking down a correct Scope for your needs. Mr.JonnyReb is on the money with Optics Planet for great Prices
and a large inventory of Items.
Jetman.

Yes I've bought quite a bit from OP. Not using for target or hunting just yet. I was just thinking it might be a good platform for say a 50mm red dot site. I don't know just a thought.

I'm a big fan of the 2-7x32 leapers lately on my big bores,...that is for hunting

Bluz, I put a Leapers 3x9x40 on mine and feel that it is really to high a power may change to one of those recomended on this thread.

The action will be relatively quick and short ranged so the name of the game is wide field of view and quick acquisition. I have a 4x Simmons 22mag on my 202s and it is great for quick acquisition and has an excellent field of view. Remember you are talking around 50yrds and you will not be hunting anything real small so no need for high zoom.

I would second a Simmons too, they are the lightest scopes i've ever mounted up, mine have all worked well with no failures and are suprisingly clear and bright. Add to that the fact that they are CHEAP$$ and they are worth a look at. J
