Title: Hatsan repair service
Post by: Jadocs on November 09, 2017, 07:53:52 AM
I recently purchased a 135 Vortex QE .22 and received it a few days ago. I was shocked how easy it was to cock the barrel and kind of knew at that point something was wrong. This was confirmed when I shot it. It had about 25lbs if cocking force and was shooting in the neighborhood of 500FPS.

Anyway, Hatsan customer service was very responsive and sent me a RMA right away. Service rep said it sounds like the Vortex piston leaked down and it looks like they are going to repair vs replace it. I’m fine with that, but was wondering what your experiences were with repaired rifles? My gut feeling tells me that repairing would be preferable vs. taking a chance on a new one.

Do any of you know if they check other things while they have it apart to make sure it’s 100%, or if they just focus on just the repair? I’m really looking forward to getting it back.

Thanks

Only Hatsan repair knows what they do.  And I bet they do it differently everytime.  If it is just a leaking piston should be an easy fix.
FWIW-ask them to check the piston seal while they are in there.  If you ask, they might do; if you don't ask, they probably won't.

Yogi,

Yeah, I was thinking about that.  It's supposed to be delivered to them today so I will give them a call and see what happens.

I was reading some old threads where people bought refurbs and then paid Hatsan for a "bulletproof tune".  You know anything about that?

Service contacted me today and told me that they typically replace the plunger and Breech seals whenever they are dealing with the piston. Can’t wait to get it back. I did break down last night and ordered a refurb 135 Vortex QE in .30 cal. They have like 4 left at $219 and it only costs $5 to ship via FedEx.

I asked if they would go over the .30 and he told me that all refurbish are fully inspected and tested for operation, velocity, and accuracy before they are sent out...so that put me at ease. The .30 cal was sent today so I should receive it no later than Weds.

Nice! I'm mostly into the Hatsan PCP's now but still have the 135 .25 and a couple other break barrels.
I'm still tempted to grab a 135 .30 cal though.

Where you near in VA?

Thanks, I’m sure I will be bitten by the PCP bug sooner or later. It’s that initial investment on air tanks/pump that keeps holding me back. Yeah the price on the .30 was too good to pass up. PA also has a deal going on right now for pellets, buy 3 get one free. Apply the GTA discount and it comes to abou 7 cents per round. I’m located in the Hampton Roads area.
