Title: New Hawke Airmax - Play in Sidewheel???
Post by: Gear_Junkie on November 04, 2017, 01:35:42 AM
I just picked up a new Hawke Airmax 30 SF 4-16X50 from Optics Planet.  The box wasn't wrapped in plastic like my previous Airmax 3-12x50 was, so it may have been a return.  My question is - when the sidewheel is attached and screwed in tightly, there is a little bit of play before the wheel engages the parallax correction.  My previous Airmax has ZERO play in the sidewheel, but this scope is a couple years old.  I'm wondering if the newer scopes aren't as tight as the older ones.  Has anyone recently purchased an Airmax scope that has a sidewheel with play in it?

Thanks!

I know it's an old post but wanted to keep the info here.  Just got a Airmax 30 SF 8-32 and it does the same thing.  It's going back.

Did you send yours back?

Yes - it was a definite defect.  It would make the ranging inaccurate.  SEND IT BACK!  The next one I got was perfect.

I'm sending it back today.  There seems to be almost 1/4" of play.

Might try a Sidewinder.
