When you had great weather and lots of trigger time? And this was not just trigger time for me, but had a great time shooting (and teaching how to shoot) with one of my daughters and her boyfriend :-)
Nothing like a warm fall day with little to no wind! On the table are my daughter's bow, D48, FX Royale, and Savage 64f:

After some basic safety instruction and time sighting in my 48 at a very short distance (I have not shot it all summer) we moved the targets across the pond:

We started shooting the 48 with open sights and bless her, my daughter was the 1st one to hit the metal spinner. No small task for a new shooter with the 48! As A quick google earth measurement confirms my guestimate of about 50 yard distance.

Here's my brother-in-law showing his typical perfect offhand form:

Lots of pellets crossed the pond. I can't recall the last time we killed of a tin of pellets in an afternoon :-)

My daughter has always had the bad habit of shooting with her middle finger. Oh well, she still shot VERY well ;-)

Nice way to create family time. Beautiful setting too.

Looks like a nice weekend!

Wonderful back yard setting for some quality family time and fun!

I don’t think life could get any better!
Enjoy it to the fullest.
-
Very fun! Do you have fish in that pond?
-
What a great day for you guys Matt.
-
Thanks for the kind words everyone! And Dillon there have always been minnows in the pond which we use for bass fishing in the fingerlakes. And probably 7 or 8 years ago my folks added a few carp to help clear out the weeds on the pond. Two of them are still around and very fat now!

Lots of pellets crossed the pond. I can't recall the last time we killed of a tin of pellets in an afternoon :-)
One weekend, myself, my brother-in-law, his son, and my son (ages, 66, 52, 16 and 39) spent two days shooting about 10 different airguns with ranges from 20 to 82 yards; pistols and rifles, springers, PCP and CO².
We went through five tins of pellets (mostly H&N Field Target Trophy Green 5.56 grain 177 lead-free pellets) about 1500 total and a few dozen 22 pellets of various brands/sizes. When I counted up all the tins I was astonished at how many pellets we had shot!
Much fun; feats of skill and magic (luck), in-"sight"-ful comments with sharing and creating memories.
Thanks for sharing and reminding me of a similar good time!
-
It's so nice to see you sharing this thing with family!
-
That pond reminds me of a gun range near by where they had a long deck overlooking a pond to shoot from. It was for .22lr only, but they threw marshmallows in the pond for biodegradable reactive targets. They were fun targets.
-
Speaking of bio-degradable targets in a pond, nailing the pine cones that were hanging over the pond was great fun. And you would get double points for clipping the branch and dropping it in the water. The sound of the .22 pellet (JSB 15.9s) hitting and frequently skipping off the pond and hitting the trees on the other side was especially satisfying 8)
Marc, that's a lot of pellets! Way to go ;D ;D ;D

Shooting with the middle finger? Never heard of it, but looking at my hands now, it almost seems natural--it's longer than your index. A quick look online finds some interesting information from which I infer it may be recommended for some shooters. http://www.pointshooting.com/1amiddle.htm (http://www.pointshooting.com/1amiddle.htm)

What a beautiful place to shoot, Matt!
Did you have your daughter's boyfriend, put an apple on his head, for a fun target set-up? ;)

I have a small pond on my property, which isn't connected to or near any bodies of water, and about 9 years ago I introduced 3 dozen 2" feeder goldfish. Today they are still around and about 12" in length. Seeing the orange just under the water's surface is kind of my, poor mans' version, of a koi pond.

That's an interesting read. Each of my girls have these teenie hands so I guess it should not be a surprise that she's using her longest finger for her trigger finger...
