Title: Cheap Ideas for make quiet pumping
Post by: GumpIsrael on October 08, 2017, 11:14:29 PM
Hey guys, looking for a cheap method to quiet down the clatter from pumping my PC77 .22 cal convert.
There is a little noise coming from the pump arm itself but most of it comes from the plastic forestock slapping the tube.
Open to any and all ideas, something durable and permanent would be awesome though.

I like that Idea, how did you apply it to the gun?

As a recally , I bought it in box patches..then cut the shape I needed, and stuck it to the air tube .. it basically made pumping silent, but also took a while to break in to the point the pump arm would naturally cam over and lock upright.. ( not long , 1 shooting session

Thanks Rob and Stefan, I’ll head to Home Depot after work tomorrow, I saw one of those kits the other day and didn’t even think about using it for airguns lol.

I used vinyl tubing can't remember if it was 1inch or 3/4 dia. Just cut about 1/2 inch section . Remove the pump arm the slide it in...i used 2 pcs an it muffled pumping metal to metal sound. Had it on over a yr and still good to go. I also used the glue on felt before but it comes unglued not like the hose mod.

Yep. Velcro works & sometimes I use Foam Weatherstripping 1/4" thick x 1" wide for a variety of tasks with air rifles..

The soft side of Velcro held up better that the adhesive backed foam on my pumpers.

Another idea...
I've had good luck with 1/8" medium density felt...

Cut it lengthwise so it's 3/4" wide, then cut strips 3-1/4" long. Attach to forearm with some contact adhesive (or similar)... You don't need much adhesion - it will stay put:

It's pretty cheap (you can get six from one strip) but the shipping kills the deal. If you can find something similar in a local store, that would be better. But unfortunately, I've found that the stuff that is easy to get, is way too thin..it probably will help but 1/8" thick felt gives you a nice quiet thud.
