As per the title, there is one for sale on ebay. My question is; did the 312 come in a nickel finish? Seller claims there is no serial number & quite honestly, it looks like it was painted with a rattle can.

My apologies to the seller if I'm wrong...

It does look in the close up of the barrel like there are some paint run marks. May just be just the pic. :-\

Marty I have read the earlier 312 were brass, then nickle, then black coatings.
Mine agrees. While nearly all of the original black is gone, about 25% of it is still nickle then the rest has worn down to the brass.
When the brass is shined up you can barely tell, but before polishing it the nickel is more evident.
That said, the gun you posted does look rather Blotchy / textured in the silver color.... hard to tell.
The pre '57 312's did not get serial numbers and the shape of the safety on that one matches the time frame.

I have a nickel 312 so they did make them. The shot of the rear looks like original finish. I think most of the older guns were available in both finishes.

With bids above $230, there must be at least two people who fell in love with that one! To me it kinda looks like the finish has been scrubbed with something - before sinking that much into a 312 it would be wise to see it in person.

Great info fellas...Thanks
Nope, purchasing that one is the last thing on my mind. Looks like someone tried touching it up. Blew paint right over the top of what looks like corrosion. My only question; Were these offered in nickel & the guys up top solved that one? Thanks again fellas.
