Title: Weak Hammerli 850
Post by: JimR on September 26, 2017, 01:09:42 PM
Afternoon all ! Took my hammerli 850 out a couple weeks ago and it's shooting 6 -8 inches low at 30 yards. Seems like the fps has dropped considerably since the last time I shot it but admittedly it's been awhile. I am using the adapter for 12g co2. Anybody have any suggestions or should I pack it up and send it to the 850 store ? I realize this gun isn't a "power" gun but when you can actually see the pellet drop its pretty dang slow. Had the gun for a couple years and it shot good for awhile but I don't shoot it often.

I don’t mean to suggest the obvious, but have you tried switching back to the 88 cartridge or using different 12’s"? Also do you put a drop of pel gun oil on the cartridges when you put new ones in? Perhaps the seals have dried up.
My 850 shoots an average of 630 FPS using the 88 gram cartridge. It is also a few years old and doesn’t get shot that much either. However when I do shoot it I run it over a chronograph and so far it’s held up fine. Right or wrong, I always leave the Co2 cartridge in the rifle until I shoot it again. I figure that helps keep the seal from drying out.
Hope this helps. Good luck!

Paul, Thanks. I  put new 12g's in it, always use pellgun oil. haven't tried an 88g as they are hard to find where I live. I'll order a couple and give it a chance :)
