I finally got my Hawke Panorama scope today and am loving it. It is amazingly clear and precise. My only question is, how do you turn on the illumination? When I turn the dial on the left, I can't see any illumination. The owners manual said that in broad daylight the lower settings may be hard to see, but I can't see any at all. Maybe the battery isn't installed? If so, how do you install a battery? Any pictures would be appreciated! Thanks! :D

The battery could be installed. Sometimes they put a piece of plastic between the contact points and the battery, to prevent it from draining.
To change the battery: If you look at the knob that turns the illuminated reticles on, the edges have a grip. Grip the edge and turn counter clockwise, while holding the rest of the knob..

Thank you very much, Stephan! Got it open, no piece of plastic, and it still wouldn't turn on. Replaced the battery, and it works great! I have never looked through an illuminated reticle, but I gotta say, I love this one! Thanks again!

Any time, Dale.

I know this has nothing to do with illumination, but I made a mistake when purchasing a mount. I went with the Hawke 1 piece mount, (https://us.hawkeoptics.com/match-mount-1-1-piece-9-11mm-high.html) but did not realize that the distance between is 120mm, my scope is only 118mm between. Would it be a problem to us a grinder and trim the mount down two mm and then paint the ground part black? I can't return the mount because I purchased it online, and it was my error, not the sellers. Hope this makes sense. Thanks

I ended up filing down the mount from 120mm to 118mm and it works great! Below is a picture of the modified mount. After I filed it, I painted the bare aluminum flat black. Thanks for looking!

Great to see guys who can fix stuff.
On small areas of aluminum filed shiny, I just use a black sharpie.
The area of that scope ring is big, and very visible and will look a little off sharpied.
This stuff is available many places locally.

Thanks, Mark! I ended up using some flat black model paint and it is working fine and blends in nicely. Thanks!
