I have the 4-16 Center Point scope from Wal-Mart on mine and it is doing well now that I put the droop compensating mount on it. Before that I had the elevation adjustment maxed out to get my crosshairs on the POI.

Diana's have varying degrees of droop. You may not need the mount they recommend. My Panther had no droop and my 34 has only a slight amount. With the raised rail you want to keep everything as low as possible. This is a good set up:
http://www.hawkeoptics.com/us/mounts/bases.php (http://www.hawkeoptics.com/us/mounts/bases.php)
http://www.hawkeoptics.com/us/mounts/fixed_9-11mm.php (http://www.hawkeoptics.com/us/mounts/fixed_9-11mm.php)
The HM17021/17021S adjusts to the amount needed, has a stop that will fit over the front of the rail and is about 1/8 inch lower than the Leapers.
For 1" scope the HM6102 are about the lowest you will find at a decent price. This will easily accommodate a 44mm objective and should work for a 50mm.

The droop can differ from gun to gun. I got a 52 (same as 48 with different stock) I have had great luck with sportsmatch ATP 61 mounts. They are adjustable for droop and fit 30mm scopes. They also make ATP 65 and ATP 66 that are adjustable for droop and windage. Expensive but IMO worth it. Keeps your scope close to optical center.  ;D

IMO the UTG mount and low rings from Leapers with their 3x9x40AOMD scope is the best combo I used on several M48, it very durable and a solid platform for this rifle! :P

Mark, Bart, ...and now I'll throw my M52 into the UTG droop mount with an Accushot Swat hat.  3-12x44... It's a good thing.  I wish I woulda gotten lower rings, I got mediums, but honestly, it's not a problem.
Mine has been cooking for almost 2 years now, and it ain't broke yet!

Bart, what mount do you use for yours? I have the same scope as you but I have a Model 34P. Haven't received either yet, they are still in the mail. I'm not sure if I need anything different than what the gun already has or if I need special rings/mount.

Hey David,
I use a "antidroop" mount on my RWS52 with the Med mounts that came with the scope. But i just got some Low mounts, which will be a much better fit. Check out the "German pic" thread and you will see just how high and weird that scope looks on my 52. i would take a pic of  the low ones for you , but that gun is on it's way to the tuners. (shadow  ;D ). on a 34 (which i've never owned) i think it's a differnt mount. go on pyramid air.com and go into the scope mount area and get a "UTG antidroop mount" for the 34 and order the 30mm "low" rings....this should be the ticket for your scope+gun....i hope this helps...if you have any questions i'm more then happy to help....Bart

David,
Put the scope on and try to sight it in.  If you really have to crank it down to get the elevation correct at zero....then you will want a UTG scope mount.  If it doesn't take much adjustment to get your vertical correct, or if it only takes a layer or two of shimming in the scope ring, then Your airgun may not even need one.  That would be great for you.
