Title: What the Heck Wally World???
Post by: KnifeMaker on September 13, 2017, 05:11:42 AM
A few weeks ago, I bought pellets, (Crosman Domes) from Wally world. They were 7.80 or 7.79 or so. A week later they dropped the price just enough that I had to order an extra tin to get the free shipping.m 7.27 IIRC.

Last of last week, I took a look. Moved up too 8.99 a tin.

Just checked again tonight, and they are now 10,59 a tin. All this within a month!  to top it off, only 5 tins left in stock.
I won't be buying them!

What is going on? >:(

Everything he gone up, both Amazon and Walmart, by a lot. Daisy flat was $3 a tin, now $9.

Hunting Season  :o

Hurricane season. I suspect price hikes to cover shipping costs that have risen due to fuel prices. No free lunches (or free shipping). They'll cover the cost by raising the prices on products while still offering free shipping. Hard to say for sure, but that's what I'm thinking.

Yep.... I suspect these 2 recent storms are going to have adverse affects on a lot of stuff. Lots of fuel in underground tanks now contaminated. Logistics must be a nightmare. Back ups in sorting facilities and what not. I was in our local Walmart yesterday (Alabama just outside the west side of Irma's path) and they had restocking carts in every department. Looked like they were preparing for Black Friday or something.

It doesn’t look like the prices at Pyramyd Air have changed.
Forget Walmart and deal with “friends”.

Maybe this is the reason.

Walmart and other well known retailers bounce prices up and down regularly - such efforts are to compete, but also to see if consumers will buy at higher prices.   If consumers buy not knowing the fluctuating prices or absolutely need a product the retailer benefits.   A lot of effort goes into these endeavors.

It's almost like the "keystone" markup mentioned in another thread. If you look at the big picture you'll see that when they have these "blow out" sales something in another department get a price hike to cover it. Walmart, being the monster that it is, will also play the "demographics" game. The price of a product will be all over the place according to store location. What the sell for peanuts in Podunk, Pa. sells for pure gold on the west coast and right in the middle in the mid west. It all averages out.

I live, in driving distances, to 5 different Walmart stores, and, yep, the price on the same exact product can vary from store to store.
