Title: Recs for a gun cradle ?
Post by: wahoowad on September 03, 2017, 10:20:22 AM
I currently prop my rifle up with my usual sandbag shooting rest when cleaning it, but that isn't always as stable as I'd like. It's time for a basic gun cradle with the forks to hold the forearm and stock. I don't want a vice style that clamps it down or used to hold the gun securely for sighting in.

Probably prefer a basic one over a complex one with drawers and such. I already have a good storage/organization solution for my gun maintenance gear.

I see a lot of models with a lot of different features. Is there a specific one you recommend, and why?

If it's a break Barrel it's hard to clean the barrel in a gun vise. The vise is greatformounting scopes or bore sighting.

Try googling the Tipton Gun Butler, about 25-30$, works perfect for my needs, might be just what you need.

That's the first thing I thought of too. I have one and love it. Works great for storing tools, parts, guppy tank... but a gun sits in there tightly for cleaning or scope adjustments.
