Hi , can you help me out on deciding which one to get .I am looking into getting an Airforce Texan 308 and I want to quiet the gun down as much as possible .There are attachments you can put on the airgun to quiet them down and some people call these attachments LDC'S, shrouds or whatever . There are two highly respected builders of the LDC that I herd about . I was wondering if I can get some input on these suppressors made by Tony from talon tunes and The other is made by R&L . Has anyone ever herd how much the gun quiets down with either one of these LDC'S ? Which one tends to be better on the Airforce Texan 308 ? Or is there someone else that has a LDC that is quieter or better ? Thank you

I would get the R&L shroud. It comes apart and can be cleaned. Bigbores put a lot of lead and lead dust in the shroud. If you can't take it apart it will add up over time.

I have the R&L on my Texan .45, it use to sound like a low tone .308 PB at full power, and now it's like 80% quieter, about the same as my sheridan but lower tone, I'm sure on the smaller calibers it will work even better, down side is it's very long, adds about 8" to the length, not sure about any other LDC's, check around and compare.

Kbstingwing , you get like 80% reduction in sound with an R& L shroud ?

at least to me it's sounds like about 80% reduction, I "don't" have a decibel meter to measure the reduction, it definitely reduces the noise a lot, some people say it makes it backyard friendly, but I wouldn't shoot a Texan in the backyard in a populated area........... some might have different results.
here's a youtube video on it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vmkCzIK0pMM (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vmkCzIK0pMM)

I just bought a new Airforce Texan 308 from Airforce for a really good price ! I got the 308 with hi rings and a 4x16x50 scope for 806.00 shipped to my house . They had 20% off a shooting package and I also received my law enforcement discount on top of the 20% . I could of gotten it cheaper for 702.00 but it came with a 4 x32 fixed scope and I didn't want that scope so I upgraded to the one listed above . I will order the LDC from R&L today to put on my Texan 308 .

question for you,
Why didn't you buy the Texan with the factory LDC installed?
was it more expensive or did it not come with it on that caliber?
I've seen ad's for the new shrouded Texan, what made you decide on the standard version?

Never mind the last post, I checked it out and seen that only the .45 Texan comes in a Shrouded version.

I contacted the fine folks at air force air guns a while back via email and they do plan on eventually producing the TexanSS in .308 and .357. I to would love a .308 so I'm saving my pennies .
From rachel@airforceairguns.com
"Thank you for your email. Our TexanSS .45cal air rifle has been rescheduled
for release by the end of September. Our apologize for this delay. We will
eventually off the TexanSS in a .308 and.357 caliber but do not have a
target date set for it currently. Check back with us at the end of Fall for
any updates. We appreciate your interest in our products."

Hi, yes I herd the same thing from Rachael about a Texan SS 308 . The only thing is the SS version will have a shorter barrel which would result in a loss of velocity compared to the standard version Texan. That's why I am going with the standard version 308 and will add the LDC by R&L . The LDC by R&L is much quieter than the current shrouded SS Texan now . Plus I could not pass on the awesome deal that airforce airguns has going on till august 31

My brother's Texan .45 had a R&L. Amazingly quiet for the nature of the gun.
