Got my TSS hammer today. I received 2 springs with it. A video showed that it comes with 3 springs , which is it ? Also, there is a hole with an allen screw in it to tighten down after adjustment, what is the other hole that isn't threaded ??

That is an air vent to help prevent hammer drag when fired. You should only need 2 springs.

It does not come with three springs. The third spring in the video is your factory spring. All together it's three springs. However, only one or two will be used at any given time.

Same here. Got it off EBay. The description showed 3 springs. Called Travis about it. He said they only send 2 springs. But, because it was pictured, he sent me the third spring. Great guy to deal with!

Yes and much easier to adjust

Travis,
Good morning. I received the new style TSS with the two springs. I am going to install in a relatively stock .25 Marauder. Is there just one adjustment now? I watched all the videos I could find and read most of the threads concerning install and adjustment. I just want to make sure there is only one adjustment now instead of a primary and secondary adjustment before undertaking this evolution? Would you suggest wide open on the VMS before installation?

Yes just 1 adjustment now and run VMS wide open

So I installed the new style TSS tonight. I went with both springs that came with the kit. I set the gap with the larger spring first. I had to guesstimate .030-.040. It does wiggle back and forth. I ran the VMS wide open 5.5-6 turns from bottomed out. I got the rifle put back together and leak checked it. I ended up with the adjuster sticking out about 2-3 threads. Bad part is the placement of the set screw, I will have to remove it from the stock to make adjustments. No strings today, bad weather :-\. I will report how it goes, unless someone can chime in if something is not right with the setup before I literally pull the trigger...

Unless its and armada the set screw should be adjustable while in the stock unless I located it incorrectly. Everything else sounds about right.

I managed to get strings in tonight, in the basement unfortunately. So from where i left off the first string went like this:
3000 psi fill- 774-776-782-788-795-803-807-812. 811-813-815-815-816-814-807-810. 808-811-813-814-806-802-801-798. Ending pressure around 2200
Adjusted about 1 1/2 turns clockwise and filled to 3000 psi: 792-797-805-813-824-831-835-840. 2700 PSI-840-842-845-842-844-850-852-845. 2400 PSI-846-848-851-842-836-828-824-812. Ending 2200PSI.
The shots are consistent with a curve. A rise and a drop off. The adjuster now has about 1/2 thread sticking out the end cap. I was hoping for more shots then that but given the consistency I guess that will do out of a .25 cal. I have a MDS hammer on the way and will see what that will do in the rifle. I was looking to hit 40 fpe for a better number of shots than the 2 magazines the rifle was getting. I am not sure if the older units were better for tuning but with the design of the new TSS I think the options are limited. It does work as the results show, not sure what would happen with the stock spring, probably a slower ramp up and less fpe.

Not sure what you mean by options are limited by new TSS design Ive personally have never used the inner adjuster EVER and have had the same success with it vs with inner adjuster except its far easier to adjust. I would look at other culprits like hammer drag and various other aspects like rear barrel oring etc. etc. Watch this video and follow it then re tune but your off to a good start for sure so just keep at it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CiXzq4WVA5s (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CiXzq4WVA5s)

Travis,
Thanks. I will explore those options since I have the MDS hammer on the way. Is the rule still try not to exceed flush on the adjuster?
-
Travis, what is the recommended grit on the ball hone? I saw a 120 grit at Walmart.

It depends. As long as the hammer has free flight you can turn it in as far as you want

360 grit or spin the 120 really fast with oil on it.

One thing that I really noticed after I put the TSS in both the Mrod and the Prod was how much quieter it made them. Yep they're that much more efficient with the TSS.

Thanks . looking for a couple 360 grit now.

What size outer spring comes with the new style TSS? 6#, 10#??? Does anyone know what the Stock .25 comes with?
