This does accept a standard paintball tank thread correct?
Just got one from fleabay (tried for several months at Archer, never in stock apparently), opened up the box took a little time cleaning out the breach and barrel, which was incredibly dirt btw, grabbed a 3.5 ounce bottle I bought years ago for a crosman bulk fill project that never came to fruition, and the bottle will not thread onto the 2079.
Do these beeman models have a weird thread size? or do small CO2 bottles have a weird thread size.
-
My buddy has one and he uses a regular bulk paintball tank.
-
Regular paintball threads, but keep in mind most modern 9oz tanks will contact the barrel.
-
Yeah the small 3oz - 4oz CO2 bottles made for beverage dispensers have a different thread. The bottle itself may be able to accept a standard paintball bonnet but of course you'd have to evacuate the CO2 to swap it.
FYI, paintball threads are referred to as CGA320 threads.

Ah, nervous trigger thank you so much you may have the answer, I was unaware of that difference. I bought these two aluminum tanks nearly eleven years ago for a bulk fill Crosman project I was working on. I eventually bought an air tube extension instead and never used these tanks. Noticed them in the "big" drawer a couple of weeks ago, finding them egged me into buying the AR 2079 last weekend. I will try to find some new tanks this weekend.
If anyone has one or two of these for sale, color me interested.

Well, the one in your photo looks like a standard paintball thread. The small CO2 bottle I received, made for a beverage dispenser, has a much coarser thread. Here it is on top (brass). Below it is a Ninja regulator with a paintball thread for comparison.

you can order just the valve and replace the valves in the bottles you hace. as lon as the soda bottles aren't metric. almost all those bottles will accept a regular valve. regular valves are only a few bux from a paintball store. they even have some with on/off feature.

here's what the threads on the gun look like. To my untrained eye they look the same as the threads on the tanks. That clearly is not the case since they refuse to thread onto the gun.

So after being so disgusted with this gun not accepting my CO2 bottles, I put it into the AG closet to ruminate on ways I could solve the problem. This morning I thought I might try to screw in my 2.5 oz. Daisy Avanti tank from my 887. I mean, according to ^&$@_=s it should just screw right in. I compared the threads on the Avanti tank and could discern no difference. Going with the assumption that nothing tried is nothing gained I decided to give that long skinny girl a chance.
That "dang" little tank screwed right in smooth as *(&^. I will be filling it later today since I have a very long "to do" list today.

The QB79 tank block has the standard paintball / CO2 threads, commonly called ASA, but I believe the proper designation is, as Jason says, CGA320.... The threads are actually 1/2" -14 NPS (national pipe straight), but are sometimes called 0.820"-14 NGO.... Are you confused yet?.... I believe the CGA320 designation also governs the size of the counterbore inboard of the threads where the O-ring actually seals....
If a standard 9 oz. CO2 tank won't screw in, it is probably because it is hitting the barrel, and you can't get it straight in line.... The tank must be UNDER 2" in diameter, and the commonly available 9 oz. CO2's are about 2.06"....

"DANG"
I was hoping to make you an offer and take the AR2079 off your hands cheap. ;)

Took a few shots to sight it in about an hour ago. Seems to balance nicely, oddly enough it feels a little heavier than the two cartridge model even before I put the Avanti tank on it. It also has the smoothest trigger of the three that I own, (the original bolt action, two cartridge lever, and now this bulk fill).
At any rate seems to shoot pretty darn well. I am not counting the shots taken yet since I spent so much time just sighting it in. Has anyone ever put a scope on one of these? If you have I'd like to hear about it.
And I still have no idea why neither of the 4 oz. aluminum bottles refused to thread onto the gun! Especially since while I was rooting around the extra's drawer this afternoon I found a steel 4 oz. tank that threaded onto the gun just fine.

With the proper adaptors you can use ALL these sources of Co2 tanks/cylinders,
I use the same 79 adaptor, it works well for all of these co2 fuel types shown,
http://www.@#$%^.com/v/vspfiles/photos/IBQB79-2.jpg (http://www.@#$%^.com/v/vspfiles/photos/IBQB79-2.jpg)
As Bod said,
the threads measure/are .825" x 14 tpi for the black adaptor threads,
if you get the next lower adaptor, JT or Air source brand name, which is threaded .825" x 14 tpi To fit the blk adaptor,
and is threaded inside for 16mm x 1.5mm threads of the 88/90 gram throw away cylinders.
