Looking through the archives, nothing really new here except for Me. ;D
Thought I'd post my Beeman P-17 (https://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/index.php?topic=127180.msg1286337#msg1286337) newbie findings in this MIC gate! 8)

Kent,
Not bad, not bad at all! You're right, not difficult to shoot good...if you get a good P17 (and I DID)! ;D
I took off the right grip yesterday, lubed the sear\hammer contacts and stretched the 12-coil spring that creates "trigger-pull-tension" on the 1st Sear Lever #SR161. Went at each coil loop a little at a time with a 3\16 flat head SD, now have the hammer breaking at a very crisp but smooth and repeatable 15 oz. (was 2.5#). Also further adjusted the trigger pre-travel screw so there is only a 1\4" take up before the hammer breaks (was about 3\4"). Safety and rear ext. hammer lock still work perfectly! This has given the pistol a light and predictable smooth action that has helped me achieve today, a .1875 5-shot 10 yd. hand held grouping and a POI 4-shot .1563 av. bulls eye spread (yes, I pulled the #3-see pic).
Still working on breathing control and a steady technique...Practice...Practice...More Practice! Have a full 500 Hobby 7.0 lead tin through the P17, but need to still use the Trail NP and Trevox (with their 5X heavier trigger break challenges) to really get "1-hole" consistency out of the Very Capable P17! 8)

I want to get one of these to defend my garden against sparrows!

Thanks Kent. How's your P17 shooting?

It shoots a lot better than me. I visited my, parents who are out of state, and I had to take an air gun just in case. It was my P17, people were impressed, they didn't know such a good little pistol could be had so cheap.
I modded it with a cocking aid

Kent,
Wonderful Add-On (https://www.etsy.com/listing/515096762/air-pistol-slide-extender-custom?ref=shop_home_active_2) for the P17 (or P3, Marksman 2004, Weihrauch HW40)! Great Step-By-Step (https://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/index.php?topic=127588.msg1259058#msg1259058) pics of your installation...Thanks for sharing it with us! ;)
Appears well made, but does it feel\fit as if one-piece with the top rail during cocking? I'm interested, but with shipping would cost more than I paid for the P17?!
You're right...if I put My P17 in a ransom rest (or a vise, etc.), would punch the same hole all day long (don't need a 7x priced P3)! However, I'll have to waste a Lot More lead to get close to that 1-hole hand-held consistency!! :o

The P-17 costs $35 so any sizable mod is going to cost more than the gun. I like guns more than I like spending money on guns, but I feel the cocking aid was money well spent. I feels natural and it helps to balance the gun. I invited the maker of the aid to join us here at GTA but haven't seen him yet.
How's the Trevox?

Glad the CA works well on the P17. I'm still interested...was going to request a "cheaper postal" quote, but can't find the makers e-mail address!?
The Trevox has seemed to finally stop dieseling (took 200+ rounds). HERE (https://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/index.php?topic=127180.msg1274771#msg1274771) is my review w\pics on GTA, along with further updates in post #37 & #39. Trigger pull is still heavy @ 6.25#, but better than where it was heading! Between the Trevox and my Trail NP, I'll have my Outdoor "harder hitting-easier cocking-quieter reporting-non replica looking" air pistol heavyweights and the P17 for refined indoor bulls eye fun!

I PM'd you Dan's email address. I believe he's mailing from Canada so I don't know what shipping options are available

Thanks Kent,
Have sent questions to Dan...awaiting a response.

Still having fun with the P17. Been getting consistent 1" single hand hold groupings and .200 to .250" supported groupings at 10M. Even had one 4-shot group "same hole" (about .100 C to C), then pulled shot #5 ::) ...still need plenty practice!
Was contemplating a P3 purchase (looking for a good used deal), but instead ordered another P17 for just $33 delivered! I'm going to perform [on the least-accurate P17] more trigger modifications (polish sear surfaces, reduce pre-travel, set trigger spring pull to 1# break), install new HBNR o-rings, relube with Super Lube syn. grease, debur cylinder if needed and eventually, install Dan's CA accessory!
I'm sure the P3 would be ready & nice out-of-the-box, but can get "7" P17's with Equal Accuracy for the price of one P3 !!! ;)

The cocking aid makes it that much more enjoyable to shoot. Takes away the anxiety of ever worrying about pinching yourself.

Got the 2nd P17 in yesterday & accurized trigger (adjusted trigger's pre-travel screw, tweaked the 1st sear trigger coil spring and lubed all sear\contact points) from a new out-of-the-box 2.5# pull\break & .750" pre travel, to a crisp breaking 1.25# pull with .250" PT. Got 25 rounds through it...Included target shows my best grouping with the FO sights was .1563 C to C (luck-most were at .5 to 1")...still using Hobby 7.0g WC's!
My 1st P17 (have a red dot reflex scope installed) I had accurized to a crisp 15oz pull\break and a short .187" of PT for strictly a target hole puncher. Achieving some .09 to .19 POI success off a rest @10yds with it (same Hobby 7.0g WC).
With these .177 high performers, felt no need to disassemble and polish any sear contact areas or perform any o-ring replacements-yet! Just the above mentioned trigger work is all it took to make these shoot with excellent precision! ;)

Finally Done It...Got my 1st 5-Shot SAME HOLE Grouping!!! ;D
This past Saturday with my #1 P17, an installed red dot-reflex scope and a home made rest, got my 1st 5-shot "Same Hole" Grouping @ 10yds (pic attached)!! Four other 5-shot groupings were at .150 to .200" C to C spreads on a 1\2" POI target. My prior 5-minutes of TLC (spring stretch and lubed contact points) has my trigger pull weight a smoothed-out 12oz., with 3\16" pre-travel (maxed out screw)! Have a total of 750 rounds through it and with RWS Hobby 7.0g wad cutters, still shooting around 405fps of accuracy!
Today, took the next step in accurizing (thanks to Scott...aka:Motorhead)! Pulled the trigger and Pre-Travel screw, drilled out the trigger's PT bottom sleeve (there to limit amount of pre-travel take up) and tapped out to create maximum adjustment travel of the screw. Thus, was able to get the trigger pre-travel creep out and have a single stage trigger with only 1\32" before sear break (same 12oz weight-see pics HERE (https://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/index.php?topic=132621.msg1317530#msg1317530)). This P17 is strictly for my indoor target range precision accuracy use...don't recommend this level of mod for outdoor target, plinking or rodent control!
Point is, the P17 performance out-of-the-box is great, but if needed\desired, still has more potential to fine tune to your liking...It really is a "Steal of a Deal"! ;)
