Title: AOA
Post by: PaulFWI on July 28, 2017, 09:34:09 PM
Ordered Talon SS .25 one week ago.  Monday morning wrote asking if it would ship that day.  Was told probably Tuesday.

Nothing Tuesday, mailed Wed, was told they test all guns, and would send tracking when it shipped.

Nothing Thursday.

Nothing Friday (today).  I just wrote and told them if it did not ship today I want the order canceled.

I think this is reasonable.  I have ordered many guns from Pyramyd and they nearly always ship the next biz day.  A week is ridiculous.  The reason I did not order from Pyramyd this time is they were out of stock of Talon SS in .25 cal.  I wonder if AOA is also out of stock and pulling my leg till they get more in.

My only experience with AOA, it took a little over 2 weeks for delivery of an airgun.  I think that's pretty typical for them.

Same for me...first week I sent a couple emails asking for any kind of info and got a few vague replies about testing and such. If you want it any faster, be prepared to pay quite a bit for 2 or 3 day delivery considering their standard delivery rate is something like $32.

It took two weeks for me to get my HW45,  But when I ordered a part to repair my Steamline it was here in three days.

I order all my stuff from PA. I've never had a problem with them and everything comes within a very reasonable amount of time and at a good price too.

Expecting for a gun to be tested boxed and shipped in a few days seems like a reach to me my personal opinion is be more patient and give it at least 10 days min.

I'll be the dissenting voice here.  No way.  I realize they are not Amazon but when you compare Pyramid Air vs AOA it gets REALLY hard to justify the level of service from one vs the other.  If EVERY mail order airgun supplier took 2 weeks it would be different.  But they don't.

(and no...  I have no financial or other tie to one or the other and yes, I've personally ordered from both)

You want my daughter to go "lean on them"?
She lives is in Mesa and is quite assertive (thanks to her Dad)  ;D

I wouldn't have an issue with waiting a week or maybe even two if I knew it was due to the gun being thoroughly checked out.  If the gun came with obvious issues though, that wouldn't be good after the long wait.

AoA does seem to generate quite a bit chatter about their lack of customer service. They may listen to feedback but do not seem to do anything about it. Same old complaints - hard to answer phone, frequently do not respond to emails, slow shipping. Just makes PA and most other dealers look all the more appealing.

I've bought quite a few items from AOA over the years and while I will admit their shipping was a bit slow I never had a problem with them.

I didn't expect them to test it.  Nor did they ask me.

The world doesn't work like this any more.  The norm for online ordering is shipping within 1-2 biz days - if a firm is going to behave substantially different, they ought to tell people up front.

I wasn't going to mention this, but this is my second experience with AOA.  The first was a very expensive FX I ordered from them ~two years ago.  I had them install a reg, so had no expectations on delivery time.  But, when I got the got, it was not shooting on the reg - at all.  It shot a curve.  I sent it back.  I got it back, and it did the same thing, and I sent it back again.

I told myself after that experience I would never deal with AOA again, and I wish I'd have stuck with that.  I thought shipping a gun in-stock with no mods would be as simple as can be.  Taking a week (at least - all I know is it hasn't shipped yet) without me knowing that up-front is not acceptable.  I will never deal with them again, and they'd better cancel this order as I requested yesterday.

Thanks, but I really want a Talon.  This will be a barn chipper gun. :)

I need to update the thread.  It turned out that AOA shipped the gun Friday, so I could not cancel.  This is a week from when I ordered, and I think they should indicate on their site that there will be such a delay, and also that they should not have told me Monday it would ship Tuesday, but, they did get it out.  So, I'll shoot it.

(Barn Chipmunks, you're all f---ed pretty soon.)

I used to live about 10 miles away from them, they don't stock them. Go inside and it's nothing but Daystate and FX. Could have been dropped shipped.

More evidence they did not test it as they claimed: the tank came completely empty, and the inner box was sealed with what appeared to be a factory seal.

Anyway, I've got the gun now.

Having been a small business operator for many years, one has to make their store look like the big box or amazon, to draw the customers , but that puts a limited staff working 18 hour days, shipping is probably timed so they get the most product out with the least time and effort , in order to maximize the things that really matter.

Here is an example that most could relate to ,  a friend offered a 100 cc motorcycle engine for free on craig's list, he had a taker that wanted it delivered 30 miles away for the price  ::)
