The short version: I sent a gun in that was probably within spec, and they were still friendly and helpful, replacing the action.
The facts:
I complained to HatsanUSA warranty about a 95 springer with a nicked breach seal, low and erratic velocity, poor pellet fit, and poor accuracy. I told them I had shimmed the breach but still had poor accuracy.
They sent me a shipping label.
I dropped a note in with the gun that I'd like to keep the stock if they were replacing the gun with one with a less attractive stock and sent it off.
Hatsan shipped back a new action in my stock and it didn't cost me a dime.
Here's the thing-
At the time, I was disappointed in the roughness and shot cycle, and I believed that I was sending a problem gun back, but....
After the warranty exchange, I came across groups I had shot with the original gun with the shimmed breach seal, and I was surprised to discover that the groups were actually pretty good. I think I just disliked the shot cycle and general crudeness and harshness of the gun so much that I would never have been happy with it- so I could look at a fine group and thought the gun was junk and should have grouped better. Anyway, Hatsan did their best to please me. The new action is dated this year and does shoot smoother than the old action, but my karmic payback is that it's slightly less accurate so far. Kudos to Hatsan for replacing the action when it was probably fine (after shimming the breach seal.)
If I buy another Hatsan, it'll be a Vortex, but I would try another if the deal is right.
I think I need to stop having $300 expectations for $140 guns.

I recently purchased a Hatsan AT44s 10 QE in .25. I got a smoking hot deal from Field Supply on it. It arrived Monday, fully charged with air and ready to shoot....the only problem with the gun is the magazines would not index to the next shot. Emailed Hatsan and they responded within an hour. I tried all their suggestions and nothing worked. Both magazines did the same thing and would not index to the next shot. The worst part is the rifle is a tack driver. I sighted it in (by advancing the mag manually) in 8 shots and at 25 yards got sub 1/2 MOA groups. I decided to call the sellers and they agreed to take it back and send me another rifle. I hope this next one is as accurate as the last.

As my grandmother used to say, "be careful what you wish for".
All Springers benefit from a tune job. $140 springers the most! :D
