Title: How do you remove the barrel break from a Hatsan Mod 95?
Post by: Rat Sniper (AKA: PaulT58) on July 22, 2017, 09:27:33 PM
I'd like to remove the barrel break from my Mod 95 and add an LDC, but can't figure out how to get it off.  I loosened the only set screw I could find, but it still feels like it's not going to budge.  Almost like it's glued on the barrel.  Any suggestions on how to remove it?

Get a bucket of seriously hot water and dunk the moderator in it for a few minutes to get it nice and warm, then a wood block and a mallet and it should tap off there. Here's the video Mike Ellingsworth did on taking one off and what's under it. Don't know if Hatsan still does this to their barrels or not but it's what you might find under there....

They really don't want you to take the dang thing off, do they?  And, it's pretty ugly underneath also.  I may have to rethink this one...

You are right Paul, it is ugly under the muzzle break. My Walther Talon Magnum is the same as the Hatsan 125. The break comes off with no trouble. My 95 was a different story. I heated a box cutter blade and cut a slit front to back on the bottom side. Afterward I glued it back together and it comes off easy when I want it to.

You might consider looking into making a shroud for the barrel to help cover it and incorporating the LDC into the shroud.

i just took wire cutters and cut the sight off and than filed it smooth.i mean its a good looking moderator 8)
I've done this to 3 hatsans and a few other rifles.

Is the report that loud? What pellets are your shooting.. I don't remember mine being loud enough to want to muffle it.

Naw, it's not that loud, just have an adapter that's a tad too big for one rifle, so was just going to see if it would work on another.  It's not worth cutting it off, I'll just leave it be on the Mod 95.  I have it torn apart and am refinishing the stock, so she's out of commission at the moment anyway...

Now, if you could direct your attention to the wood working Gate, I have questions about the stock!
