The brown truck arrived around noon. Got the gun unboxed and was impressed with the quality.
Cleaned the barrel, went outside and put around 25 pellets thru it. Mounted the scope and after a quick site in started shooting groups.
After 3-4 shots getting used to the trigger, first group was dime sized at 15 yards. This gun was grouping great with very little break in.
First impression is trigger is not as good as HW, but I was still able to get good accuracy. And I didn't try to adjust it much.
I bought the tuning trigger from Krale with the gun for about $20 more. Going to wait till later to install it.
I tried 15 different pellets and the gun liked 10 of them. Many dime or less groups. I have never had a gun group this good, this fast.
Shot with the gun rested on my back deck rail on a towel, on shooting sticks, and rested on my hand. Same POI with all. :D
Doesn't seem too hold sensitive. Averaging right at 850 fps with CPL's.
Love the barrel latch, really like not having to slap the barrel to open.
About the same weight as my 97K.
Really impressed on this first day, will give updates later.
Need a good picher posting tutor, or will try another one of the photo sites.

The LGV is one of the best! The stock plastic trigger is good but the screw in the trigger to short. Install a longer screw, about 1/16 in. longer. The best way is to cock it and screw it in until it fires them back it off 1 turn and adjust to your likes. Now it's a great trigger! Have fun your going to love it! Don

The first stage screw is a metric M3 0.5 mm and you can try 20 mm length. Round, polish, and lube the end. I haven't tried a 25 mm, but I bought one just in case.
Agree, it was one of the best out of the box springers ever, not pellet or hold sensitive, and a truly great springer.
-
Great report, and that's not the first time I have heard best shooter out of the box for the LGV/LGU.
Joe don't use a hosting site, just upload your pictures to GTA. I resize my pictures to 800x600 if memory servers, with office 2010 then upload them from my computer to GTA.

Resizing is what I don't know how to do, will research that.
Thanks

Bought a couple of 20mm length to try this morning. Thanks

Enjoy it! Triggers can be extremely good with just a little work. I have a modified stock trigger (LGU) and also the aftermarket Rowan trigger (LGV) and both work great. Planning to keep my LGV and LGU forever-both are just that good.

About the same weight as my 97K.

Maybe I should get one?
My HW80, HW77K & HW97 weigh the same even though I like the balance of the HW77K best.
IIRC, the LGV Master Pro is almost 1 lb. heavier - right? Maybe it's a balance "thing".

I have two LGVs and three Weihrauchs. I don't think the Walther triggers can ever be as good as the Weihrauch. You might get them down to be as light with very little sear engagement, but once you let off the LGV trigger, usually the sear does not reset, just the trigger blade goes forward. The nice thing about the Weihrauch is that all three of mine fully reset to full sear engagement when I let off of them. A touch of moly and a slight counterclockwise turn of the tension screw can make a Rekord trigger nearly a match grade unit.
In my experience the Walther shoots nicer out of the box, but after a couple of thousand rounds and a good barrel cleaning, my HW98s have exceeded the accuracy off of the bench over my pair of LGVs. Last night I shot two five shot groups of .167 and .187 off the bench with a 98. When it comes to shooting groups offhand, the Weihrauch triggers allow me to down a lot more sparrows due to the much better feel of the trigger.
If someone can really say that they have surpassed the Rekord on the Walther, and it fully resets if let off, I would be very interested to see how they did it.

The 25mm range of LGV rifles are the best out of the box by far IMO & I'm a HW man.
It's true the XT unit is no Rekord but with some fine tuning & setting it makes for a good set up.The trick is to do very small adjustments to the front 2 screws (Metal blade) after the rear screw for weight is set.
It still has a longish first stage which you get used too or change the screw ,the Rowan blade is also a good addition if you like spending. :D

I shoot off my deck rail or off shooting sticks, so the weight doesn't bother me.
LGV is around 3/4 of a lb heavier.
If you are going to be shooting off hand mostly, I don't think you will like the weight.
If you are going to shoot benched or "propped" GO FOR IT ! :D
My 97K may have a heavier scope on it, when I held them up together I couldn't tell a noticeable difference in the weight.
-
What scope will you mount on it?

What scope will you mount on it?
Hawke 3-12X44 side focus 1/2 mil-dot. Good scope.
The LGV had no droop.
Put longer screw in the trigger yesterday. Gonna do some shooting today and get adjusted. Seemed to make the trigger a lot better.
Already took care of one bird feeder raider. 8)

Wooo Hoooo ! got a picher to post ;D

Very nice! :D
Seems you like the full adjustment on the adjustable butt pad. 8)
Is it difficult going back to a non-adjustable butt pad stocked gun? :-\

Been moving it up and down a lot, not just right yet.
Have two guns with adjustable pads, the rest are regular.
I don't even notice it when I swap from one to another. But thanks ! now I will be sensitive to it :o ;)

Those groups are what you'll achieve at 35 yards, not 35 feet, once you and the rifle "become one".
P.S. try the H&N Sniper mediums 8.5gr, ;) my 2 luv 'em.

Doubt I'll ever achieve dime groups at 35 yards, too much heart beat in the scope, too much caffeine. :o
Been putting off tryin the sniper mediums cause I sold 9 tins about a month ago.
Got when WalMart had em on sale for bout $6 a tin.
Guns didn't really like them after I bought them. :o
Would be my luck to have a gun that likes them now ::) :-[

Hi guys,
I've been shooting a LGV Competition Ultra in .177 sience 2013.
After installing the genuine WALTHER tuning trigger blade (the one with the two grub screws for stage 1 & 2)and doing some basic trigger work (clean, polish sears, relube, lighter trigger load spring) the gun bedded in perfectly.
It's by far my most accurate break-barrel and a joy to shoot.
Couple of weeks ago a got a nearly new LGV Challenger in .177 too. That's the one with the black plastic stock. Sorry - no pics of the gun yet.
I did the same trigger tune like stated above.
Gun is bedding in now and results are quite promissing.
Greetings from Austria

Thanks for the comments. I am looking forward to getting the tuning trigger installed.
Very impressive groups, and VERY impressive air gun list in your signature.
Welcome to the GTA !

Thanks
If you're taking the pics with your phone, then you should be able to size them down pretty easily. What I do is email them to myself (home computer), and decrease the size prior to sending. That way I don't have to bother with resizing on the computer.
-
Some of the best groups I seem to remember you posting, and the farthest distance. Good Job Enjoy!

I have been using Imgur and it resizes them for me, Imgur is much easier and faster than PB was.
Will try your suggestion, take all my pics with my phone.

Very impressive shooting! Love my LGV also!

The Superdomes show lots of promise. Have you tried those at 35 yards?

Not yet. All I had was a sampler pack, and ran out.
Will have to pick up a tin. At least I can buy them locally. :D
-
I absolutely LOVE my stock LGV. It shoots nicer than my tuned Prosport. It's probably my favorite rifle.
-
Very nice gun and great shooting! I love my lgv master ultra in .22.....By far, one of the nicest springers i have ever shot!
-
My LGV Master Pro loves either JSB 8.44 or RWS Super Domes! I tend to shoot the JSB's over the SD's both are very accurate, 8) :P

Air Arms Field work well in the LGV.

I have been posting much. New hobby has kept me busy. I came here to see what others think about their Walther's. I haven't had the urge to buy another air gun since I got the Walther LGV. I don't shoot as much and every time I pick it up it's still sighted in just like I left it and no fuss. My HW97K hasn't been shot in a year now. I grab either the Walther LGV or LGU if I want to sling .22 pellets. I totally stopped chasing power in springers. I could sell of all the rest of my springers and never look back. I did do the two stage trigger in the LGU and the Roman trigger on the LGV. That Rowan trigger is sweet. This cooling weather is making me want to shoot more often.
Kinda surprised how few posts there are on the Walthers.

I've been singing their praises since I first got mine.

I second that the Walther is all one needs as a hobby and for out of the box attainable groupings-accuracy. The gun out performs my talent, and makes me look like an expert at the local range.
Mine happens to be the LGU in .177. And like your last comment, it is a wonder these air rifles do not get more treads and posts here on Gateway.
Mine is still as sent from the factory - except for its lubing. When unboxed I disassembled, wiped off the factory grease job, and did my own throughly use of Moly70 appropriately to make sure she was ready for many target practicing-pellets down range.
I know the trigger kit and polishing the trigger assembly will only help, but straight as be - with factory spring assembly - she makes accuracy easy.
I want to thank justa on starting this tread and sharing his experiences and photos. A nice thread for others to read and learn about the owning a Walther.

Seems they are being phased out or at least deemphasised. ???
All I hear about is the Terrus, Parrus, Century... :(
