I tried this DIY velcro mount, and it worked like a charm...for about two days.
(p.s. I tried to put that photo here, not at the end of the post. How to do that?)
Now I can't get the hook side of the velcro to stay adhered to the stock. I really don't want to put epoxy on the synthetic stock, and I'd really be P.O.ed if even that didn't work. I'd rather drill and mount a bracket, which is one of the reasons I got the synth stock in the first place. I can always plug the holes with something innocuous if I need to.
I've looked for a side-mount but all I can find are scope or rail mounts which I do not want. Any links out there to what I'm looking for?

Get a cheap blank piece of pic rail from eBay/amazon/ctd. Cut to length, drill and sink. Mark stock where holes are. Drill and tap stock. Put flashlight in low pic rail scope mount (1"?). Or get a UTG pistol light that is already designed to clamp to weaver w/cross slots.
Voila. Done.

Horatio, great solution!
However, I would like the light to be more of a quick release setup, a la the velcro. Any ideas for that?

They sell quick release rings that would work well with Sam's idea.

That outta do it.

Maybe another idea.
Make a line perfectly parallel to bore on stock. Find out how far apart 2 scope rings will be to secure flashlight of choice. Drill that distance on line on stock. From the other side, stuff 2 bolts thru 2 holes. Make steel poking thru smooth and SLIGHTLY (1/32"?) proud of stock. If forearm tapers, take into account- keep protrusions parallel to bore.
Two matching scope rings, picattiny for the beefier base. Taller than you need. Chop off bottom of base equal height for both. Get rare earth magnets (2). Drill hole exactly ctr bottom of both rings taking into account wasted depth of the 60* drill bit. Go wider than diameter of magnet. Epoxy magnets in making them parallel to each other and maybe even recessed (SLIGHTLY 1/32"?) to form male/female to bolts.
-
You could do the same with the whole pic section, but anything other than flashlight (bipod/laser) will need more strength or repeatable precision - first idea.

While that magnet idea is just incredible, implementing it might be a little too involved for my meager skills.
On the other hand, the quick release ring could be very simple to work with, as the flashlight is light enough to really only need one ring. So, one small piece of picatinny rail, one small quick release (probably 30mmm) ring, and we're in business.
Both great ideas!

Assuming your airgun is scoped, hee is the two mounts I've used:

That second one has a full six allen held screws holding it together. I have two of those, and one like the first one.
