Title: Request for Upgrade
Post by: rsterne on May 31, 2017, 08:26:17 PM
While I was shooting for the 2nd 2017 Match today, I had one target with a better score and another with a smaller group.... Here is the target with the smaller group, which should qualify me for an upgrade to Expert....

Here is a photo of my range....

and here is my shooting bench and setup....

I am using my Vanguard Steady-Aim rest, which I have modified by lowering the legs and removing the rear leather stock cradle so that I can place the butt against my shoulder.... The front of the rifle sits in a V-shaped bag, held down with a Velcro strap, but not clamped to it.... At the rear I use a shot-filled bag sitting on the rest to support the weight of the stock.... I have added a swivel mount on the left side for my 20-60 x 60 Cheapo spotting scope.... It makes for a nice, compact, self-contained unit that is reasonably steady to shoot from....

Here is the target with a ruler overlaid to show the 4" bull, and another photo showing the group size....

I am pleased with the combination of power and accuracy of this rifle.... It really smacks Varmints spitting out the JSB Heavies at 70 FPE....
