Title: My new to me, spare parts 2240 14.5" Carbine...
Post by: imadunatic on May 30, 2017, 02:27:20 PM
So, thanks to one kind soul in internet land (https://www.reddit.com/r/airguns/comments/6cjpui/free_crosman_2240_145_inch_barrel_ldc/) and several spare parts left over from my 2400 and 2240 build, I put this together this weekend:

The stock and trigger group came from my 2400kt, the barrel shroud is a leftover (had to make the adapters for a 7/16 barrel), the discovery bolt, handle and extra barrel band was in the parts bin and a I drilled and tapped the baffle end for #6-32 set screw for a front sight pin.

After recrowning the barrel, de-burring the transfer port and polishing the leade this will definitely outshoot me with open sights using cheapy CPHP and quite literally transfers me back to my childhood red ryder shooting days. With the SSG fitted, it makes about 7.5 FPE @ 490 FPS for 58 shots before it drops below 300 FPS.

I had plans for this to be my first attempt at a shop built repeater breach and fit an extra 4-12 x 40 scope I had laying around, but it tips the scales at 3 lbs, 3 oz and is so sweet to plink with off handed that I think I'm actually going to leave the plastic breach and stock "peep" sight on it and just enjoy it in the summer months. Besides, my 2400 is the one screaming for a repeater breach... I think that will be the first victim.  8)

Nice score on the parts. It looks fun and tuned down to 58 shoots is nice for a plinker.
