Title: My son gave up his Gen 1 MROD
Post by: Booger on May 29, 2017, 12:09:52 PM
My son has been eyeing my Apple watch for over a year. So I told him I would trade the watch for his MROD (which I bought). He said give it here. LOL

This MROD has a history. I bought it used and tuned, then I put in a Huma regulator. I shot it for awhile and really did not like it so I sold it. :( My son kept asking where his MROD was and I did not have the heart to tell him. The same MROD came up for sale and I bought it back. The owner made a lot of changes, some I liked some I didn't. So off to the tuner she went, where she received a major make over. New hammer, new shroud, SSG make over. I just wish there was something I could do about the weight and blockieness. It feels like a heavy 2X4. While all I do is shoot her off a bench it still irritates me. :( I also have the same problem with my Air Wolf, it is just too heavy. Maybe I need to look at weight before I get air guns in the future.

Bottom line is I have a new/old airgun back in my stable even though it never left.

Good trade and cool story too.

If I get another air rifle it will most likely be an MRod or SynRod.

Jesse,
They do have a way of returning home...
Here is my story.
I bought my Gen I .177 to replace my tack-driving Gen I .22.
No one told me I could de-tune the .22 for FT.
Shot it a bit.
Then made a trade to Motorhead.
The trade for his complete Marauder package.
Whoa...30 shots per fill became 80 at 18fpe using 10.34 grain pellets.
So one day I was messing around and I stripped the screw on the bolt (you know the one).
It would not budge.
PA said they would fix it.
I sent it to them.
Guilt got the best of me and I called PA and asked them to send it back.
I took care of it and was enjoying the FT game, albeit, I was, and,  I am not a challenge to anyone.
Then in 2015 (July) I figured I would leave the PCP game.
Sold the tanks and sold the rifle (as pictured without the scope/bi-pod) for $750.00 + S&H
Five months later I see the rifle on the Yellow for $600.00 delivered.
Motorhead brought the rifle to my attention, too, "That is Frank White's rifle".
I told him, "It is mine again".

So it came back for the third time but.....When Scott opened it up he was sick.
Some hack had gotten into it and added a 4-ring bStaley mod even with the already installed Huma Regulator and other things.
It took Scott about two hours to fix everything.
I know it was two hours because I drank three cups of coffee and ate two croissants while watching him.

Scott has had to replace an o-ring now and then but this ol' girl can shoot (as long as it is not me behind the trigger).

Had a leak last month.
Changed the fill nipple and gauge (duh) and all is well again.

Probably get a complete takedown and rebuild the valve soon.

I know I have 65,000 pellets down the barrel and I have no way of knowing how many were shot when she was gone in 2015.

The Gen I .177 ranks right up there with my R1.

It needs a better scope (1/2 mil-dot) but as I will be 72 in August, the scope that is on now will have to  do.

Stay safe my friends

Everyone knows I do not like MRODs. LOL Today I wanted to see how my regulator was holding up and in the middle of testing I ran out of her favorite pellet. :( Long story short I only got 30 shots out of her because of lack of pellets (I need to place an order soon).

I think she is doing pretty good. I do like your stock, I've had 2 like that. :)

I just wanted to add a graph. Pictures are worth a 1000 words. :)

Right now I have only used huma & airgun exporter's regulators, but Rocker put a Robert Lane regulator in my Buccaneer. We will see which one works the best. :) Regulators are the way to go in my opinion.

I already have a TSS and Rocker MDS hammer. I blew my shoulder out again and that set me back a bit on fine tuning. I'm learning to work around the torn rotator cuff again like I did for 35 years after I blew it out the first time. I'm just not ready for surgery again. I'm getting there... I can scratch my butt with my left hand but I can't comb my hair yet.

I sold my .177 Mrod, didn't kiil me because there are lots of good guns in .177, both springer and PCP.

The more I shoot my .22 Mrod the more I like it. It's heavy, but it's a shooter!

I sold my first .25 Mrod, realized I was an idiot and bought another. It's going to stick around!

(BTW, if you want to adopt me I will shoot your Mrod!   ;D )

I have come to the conclusion that all my guns are For Sale, people just may not want to pay for my asking price. :) Not that my prices are high, but some of them have work put in them. LOL

Just stopping in to say I really enjoyed both the OPs and Franks stories of their guns returning home.  Pretty neat stuff...
