Title: FX Crown / Royale's future?
Post by: Rodeo on May 27, 2017, 02:03:35 PM
With the introduction of the Crown; what does it mean for the Royale?  AGD has the Crown w/ walnut listed for only $20 more than the Royale w/ walnut stock.  If the Crown shoots as well as the Royale - has the same basic ergonomics - has the adjustability of the Impact - plus the ability to change barrel twist rates: why not spend the $20?  I'm not saying that the Royale might be discontinued but maybe a price drop for the Royale line?

I'm with you on that thinking. There not gonna get any sales on the royales if for barely anymore can get a much better rifle...I would suspect a price drop

Wow, I hand't looked at the crowns price, but hopefully that means they will be discounting the royale.
though if the crown is a success they might discontinue the royale?

I've been saving to buy an FX.  Now I have to rethink my choices.  The Crown would end up costing more overall - have to get .25 and .22 barrels.  If the price does drop on the Royales and possible backwards compatability of the smooth twist x barrels???........
Not quite there with the funds yet so time remains before "pulling the trigger" or I might just have to consider selling the Nova and the Avanti's.

After I have  read
http://hardairmagazine.com/news/iwa-2017-day-one-new-fx-crown-air-rifle-announced/ (http://hardairmagazine.com/news/iwa-2017-day-one-new-fx-crown-air-rifle-announced/)
I  wonder that  “liners”  is rotating at each shoot and therefore pellets start spin ? :o
Do yo have another explanation why pellets start spinning at smooth barrel ?

I read that the smooth twist x barrel inserts are rifled for the whole length of the insert (unlike the original smooth twist) and that the rifling is pressed into them from the outside.  No machining of the bore = very smooth.

So just the opposite happened.  AGD now has the Royales w/ walnut listed for $1739.00 (synthetic stocked Royales went up $76).  The Crown w/ walnut is still at $1669.00.  Sure did not anticipate a price HIKE.

Does anyone know the overall length and weight of the crown?  airgundepot doesn't have it on there. If it's lighter and more manuverable than the royale that would likely make a big difference on the royale's price.
