I have it tore down as much as I can, I'm still trying to figure out how the barrel comes out of the inner barrel. I took it down because it's too violent of a shot cycle, I know I can make it better. This thing has a 13.5"(47 coils) spring, it's the same size as all the B-19 clone guns that has about a 10"(37 coils) spring. I'm using a Stoeger spring to check the diameter. It doesn't have a tophat and the spring guide is plastic and only 4 15/16" long, it has a plastic washer with a metal washer on top. It looks cheap compared to the Stoeger I just pulled apart. It was loaded with lube and I still found a few areas that were rubbing.

Here's a comparison of the Hatsan spring next to the B-19 clones.

I'm not sure what I'll do yet but I think a tophat and better guide would help and maybe cutting a few coils to tame it down and make it more accurate. I'm open to suggestions and will appreciate the advise.

Look like the Webley Valuemax I just worked on.. Same looking piston seal and piston but yours may be longer. Did not have a top hat either and the guide had the same set-up with the steel washer. Are you going to replace the seal? If you do would like to know what you use. My seal looked good so did not change but sure there is a better seal. I did change the spring with a E3650, but of course mine is shorter, just 40 coils. I still have some to go on the break-in so sure it will improve.

I started doing some clean up and started with the chamber, you ain't gonna believe this and I quit for the night. here's a few paper towels I ran through it and the black ones are after I ran some 600 grit wet/dry sandpaper through it. I'm using 3n1 oil as a lube to clean and it's working good= yes I'll clean it all out with brake clean when it's done.
From the 1st patch to the last of the night.

This is a dry patch with no oil, almost looks like it's cleaning up Huh? This is a 2014 build date gun but I bought it new 3 months ago. Is that a little rust?

I'm not sure what direction I'm going yet, based on the clean-up so far I may put it back together and see how it shoots. I know you can get better parts from Mr Stepping Stone on youtube. He's got some good videos of Hatsan tear downs.

I also am interested on seeing how this plays out.

I finished and it's back together, It took forever to get all that gunk out of the cylinder but it's done. I found a few other things that needed to be addressed.
The piston had some nicks in the metal, they weren't rubbing but I cleaned them up anyway.
I cleaned and lubed the piston and installed it, the front cocking arm hole is larger than the B-19 clones and I had to use a small screwdriver to push the seal down. I ran the piston up and down the cylinder and noticed the back of the piston is a little oversized and it gets stuck when cocked so I took some 200 grit paper and honed it down then polished it and now it's smooth. I didn't have to take much off just the factory black coating.
I pulled out the under lever lock and found some rust so I cleaned that up too.
Here's the locking pin set in the gun for a pic, just a little rust in there.
I put it back together and it went smooth. I tuned up the trigger a while back so that saved time. This gun shot H&N Crow Magnums the best but I'm out of those so I used some H&N FTT and they grouped better than ever. I ran about 50 pellets through it and it's soo much smoother to cock that I can actually leave my hand on the pistol grip and cock it without having to put it against my hip. I couldn't do that all day but it never cocked that easy before. The shot cycle is smoother and it seems to be faster.
Open sites at 10 yards to feel it out
(http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k570/robnms/Mobile%20Uploads/20170523_141135.jpg)
I put on a Walmart special Bushnell 4x9 scope and started shooting at 20 yards to clean out the lube and letting the gun settle in without adjusting the scope.
And then a few targets, The bottom target was my last and I wasn't trying to make a smiley face but that's the look on my face after doing this work. I still had a few fliers but I just ordered more pellets, I hope the Crow Magnums shoot better than this like before.

Looks great! What lube did you use on the spring? Did you use moly anywhere on the piston or the lip of the seal? Im jusy beginning to learn these rifles and was curious as to what lube and placement. Thanks, Jeff

Nice job and all you really did was clean it up while smoothing out the rough areas. I personally like it when it doesn't require a bunch of effort and time to get something shooting great.

I bought what was available locally and it worked great on both guns I worked on. I used Bel-Ray assembly lube mixed with Rem oil, I also used Bel-Ray Blue Tac chain lube. You can go to the Bel-Ray site and find a dealer near you. The Blue Tac is used instead of tar on the spring to reduce twang. If you can see the light blue color then you used to much. I also use the Assembly mixture over the Blue Tac after it sets up.
I basically followed this video for applying the lubes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ckja5Db0qhc&t=979s (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ckja5Db0qhc&t=979s)
And these for teardowns and trigger work. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fjL0Aj51J00&t=977s (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fjL0Aj51J00&t=977s)

Yes, that was it and it shoots like a totally different gun. I'm impressed and happy to own it again.

The Mainspring broke on my 100x, it's still under warranty.
I tried calling Vortek, to get a price on parts. The rep from Vortek finally wrote back, she didn't know what spring or seal I would need.
(I've pretty much given up on Hatsan's service department. Brand new gun and they are fixing their money with my credit card.)
But, anyhow, I noticed this post wasn't all that old, and....
Remove barrel: 1) Unscrew brass cocking bolt handle. 2) Look inside of hole where the brass bolt handle was. 3) Take hidden allen set screw completely out of the bolt or you will risk damaging the threads on the barrel. 4) Look inside of muzzle while jiggling up and down on bolt. 5) Find big old screwdriver that will fit. Unscrew barrel.
My 100x is/was in .177 cal and it seemed to like the H@N barracuda hunter. I don't have a chrony, but I assume that it simply can't throw light pellets strait and the pitch of the rifling is too slow to stabilize the longer ones. You may want to try that pellet as they started making it in .25.
I was considering buying one in .25, however, never knowing what pellet a gun will shoot strait always seems to make that a risky proposition. I was pretty ecstatic when I found my 100x could throw a hollow point inside of a quarter at thirty yards.
Can anybody tell me what parts to order to rebuild my 100x?

You can go to http://www.airrifleheadquarters.com/spring-matching-service.html (http://www.airrifleheadquarters.com/spring-matching-service.html) and give him the dimensions of the spring and He may be able to help.
He had a match for a Gamo Varmint Hunter HP that has a 32mm spring that no one else could find.
Hope this helps.

Call JM at the link grimeszee provided and tell him the spring diameter is the same size as a E3650. http://www.airrifleheadquarters.com/catalog/item/251488/5414946.htm (http://www.airrifleheadquarters.com/catalog/item/251488/5414946.htm)
Then pull your spring out and count the coils, and let JM know.
If it were me I think I would just send him the spring, spring guide and seal so he can measure it himself. I would also recommend finding a metal spring guide and tophat.

Rob,
First thing is stop using oil to clean with, get some hot soapy water wash it out really well then lube it back up with grease (I use Krytox)
400 Grit Wet/Dry paper with lots of water and soap will make polishing the compression chamber easier..

Great job Robert!
Thanks for the good pictures and descriptions of what you were doing.
