Will Cross-man come out with a Benjamin Marauder III or is it just wishful thinking?
What killed the recent one that was due to come on shortly? When I saw the deep discounts on the present Marauder II I though it was a sure sign that Crosman was try to make room for the Marauder III.
A Regulator and better barrel sounded like a sure marketing hit but someone obviously doesn't think so.

They did ... the Field / Target model with externally adjustable regulator @ mid winter and it made press release only to be scrapped by @ march there about.
The Why For ? never has been released leaving all to assume some sort of liability or such issues keeping it from official and actual production status.
-
Marauder III for me would be .30 and .357 calibers!!! This would be so nice in these calibers and regulated!! I'd bet they would sell like HOT CAKES!!
Who knows 😁😁 what Crosman might come up with.

the mav 77 had a similar demise

I was under the impression that since it never went on sale that meant there was never an official MRod III. That's why I asked. My money was itching to buy one. I was bummed to hear it was DOA.
From what I heard from Shot Show 17 it was going to cost about $100 more that the MRod II which was well worth it.
I though sure the Bean Counters killed it because market emphasis has been on less expensive PCP's for the masses.

I placed a small order of parts from crosman this AM. I asked about the F&T, and they confirmed it was not going to be released, but did no know the details why.
Regardless of the F&T version, I'm sure that eventually there will be a Mrod III. I can't see crosman killing one of its most successful guns.

I think they were fine with the Gen I.

I'll take a .357 scaled up to 100+ ft/lbs.
-
I have juiced my .357 up to 1750fps/850fpe.
Of course that is from a 10 inch Thompson/Center Contender barrel.
It does slow down to 500fpe at 100 yards.
A bit too loud for the yard, though... ;)

Market research could have concluded it wasn't financially worthwhile.
Their source for some of the specific parts may have been unable to produce what they needed, at the price they needed.
They may have decided to utilize their tooling to make cheaper rifles, instead.
I doubt it's liability, but you never know. These decisions are pretty much ALWAYS financially related.
But, if you want a regulated M-Rod... you're going to have to build it yourself, or have someone do it for you.
Still, lots of other choices out there. If these were going to cost in the neighborhood of $700, there probably would not have been very many buyers. At that price point, lots of other options and newer platforms become viable. Heck, you can get a Daystate Regal XL for $998.
Good Luck!

Some valid points. My take on it is similar. Not worth venturing into the market with an old rifle platform at that price point economically, better to create one from the ground up with MANY changes, and leave the FT version to the aftermarket suppliers that have already done a great job regulating and obtaining performance from the gen l / gen ll platforms.
IMO They're better suited making a very cheap (already done imo) pcp platform and going after the 800-1k+ market with some something really sweet.

Marauder 3 for me would be:
1. Green Mountain barrels for .22 and .177 - full diameter of .5"
2. External adjustment for valve
3. Short shroud option for those who may want to use after market moderator

Yea put me down for one of those too.
Received a reply from Crosman that they won't be making a MRod 3.
I say it's an unfortunate/missed opportunity call on their part. Those whom already have a Marauder will have to source the parts on their own and pay a lot more than what Crosman could have done it for.
I can't see spending $400 to make mine a MRod3.

For a "next gen" mrod, they can take the side cocking action and aluminum air tube from the bulldog and put it in a rifle, with a quality barrel.

You can read my mind or did we discuss this ??? either way this is what I would like to see from Crosman,
take the already designed bulldog action and make a nice either rifle or semi bullpup with a wood or full synthetic(not the two piece skeleton kind on the bulldog)
It opens the door for .30, has an good mag design with room for bullet for all the people that are getting into swaged .22 and .25 bullets,
the pressure gauge isn't at the muzzle has a large air capacity and on and on.
-
Hope not....not that the MRod is "bad", but with alreasy a Gen I and a Gen II, would add to the problems of keeping what parts fit/what don't. Would be fine with me to make a new model that's a whole lot like it, but name it something else...something even more "catchy" if the ad. dept.can up with a good name....save us all a lot of miss ordered parts in the future.
As in: "Is this a generation ! Hill's pump, or a generation II, or a generation III...what parts do I need?"

Yea, we discussed 30 and 25 cal, but not pushing it down to the 22 and 177 level. It would need quite of bit of changes to support a rifle and lower caliber. Honestly, the side-lever probably adds allot of complexity and cost that is not needed on a rifle. Now, a light-weight aluminum airtube would be nice. :)

Good points, and given the Maximus vs Disco II, crosman has already done that.
