Title: New pcp
Post by: LDP on May 17, 2017, 01:02:59 AM
I told myself last fall that I was done buying airguns. Well There has always been one I wanted to get but never did. The first time I had a chance to buy it I bought my S510. The next time I had a chance to buy it I bought my R10 mk2. I decided that I didnt need it and I had some really good rifles in my rack so just be content. Well I was in a position to buy it again so I ordered it last Sunday ;D The timing was perfect since the wife and I will be going on a four day camping trip over memorial weekend. I should be able to take it with me and give it a good evaluation in the woods on some ground squirrels and maybe some rock chucks. It will also give me a chance to compare it to the R10, S510 and .25 Mrod for accuracy, shot count and just overall handling and features. I like to compare rifles off the bench then in the woods. Sometimes a rifle will win on the bench but lose in the field. I have a feeling this rifle will not disappoint and will be one of my all time favorites. I will start a thread when I get back from camping and post some pics and maybe some vid that should include scope cam footage.

I'm waiting on a Forest Laminate Crown .25 with an extra bbl in .22 for heavy ammo.
I think that gun will be very nice to hunt and long range shooting.

Take care Fellas

Well I will have my wolverine on Monday according to tracking. Thats just in time to mount the scope and test it out a little before the camping trip. Gonna be fun using it in the woods next weekend. I hope I get a chance to use it on some bigger critters but I know its gonna get shots on ground squirrels.

Congrats Leland, I watched Jerad at AOA reviewing one (again) and they look like a great gun. I like the way it cocked so much easier than a Regal. Probably attributed to the larger bolt diameter and not having to pull back all the magazine actuating parts. Noticed AOA has them reduced down to $1595 I believe it was, like a $500 discount. Hope you enjoy it and keep up posted please.

Well its here ;D I am getting ready for the long camping trip next weekend and our son and his wife are at the hospital getting ready to have their first baby and our first grand baby!! So I had just enough time to mount a scope and get a quick zero done. I only had 31 yds to do the shooting but it will do for now.

Initial impression:
Its actually pretty light and weighed about the same scoped as my marauder gen2 unscoped.

The Wolverine is also pretty short. Its the same length as my AA S510 carbine with a moderator attached. When I get a chance I will snap a pic of them laying side by side.

The trigger is very good and extremely crisp.

The stock.... well do I have to say anything about a Daystate stock ;D The stock fits very well, has good grain with a very good balance point.

I was surprised by the noise when I pulled the trigger for the first time. Its shooting JSB Kings at 900 fps and its quieter than my Mrod .25 shooting the same pellet at 868 fps. Now I dont know if its actually quieter or if its the noise signature the hugget produces that makes it seem quieter. The wolverine has a very quick thunk noise and the Mrod has a deeper thud noise if that makes any sense. Either way the birds around me when I was shooting for zero didnt pay much attention where the Mrod scatters them.

The bolt is smooth and solid with a good lock up. The magazine is also very solid and feels well built. It better for the price they want for them.

Accuracy was right where it should be. I didnt have a real rest so I used a bag of rice on top of a camera bag ;D The first three pellets went into the exact same hole but the last 3 I shifted my rice bag and I didnt feel very steady. The last three hit the edges of the hole that was already there. I was a little disappointed that I didnt keep them all in one .25 cal hole but it was my fault not the rifles. The group was shot using the magazine. With a solid rest this rifle is going to be amazing and no doubt first or second in accuracy out of all my rifles I own and have owned.

Now a few pics:
