Title: N.U.A.H Entree - 25 Cricket at 100 Yards
Post by: ancient1one on May 13, 2017, 12:55:40 PM
My buddy invited me to his gun club the other day. The club has a dedicated 100 yard BR range. I shot about 20 - 25 groups testing the 34 grain JSB MK II's at different speeds in 3 - 10 mph winds. Started at 800 fps and worked my way up to 925 fps.

JSB 34 grain right from the tin at 910 - 920 fps.

I don't think the targets make muster but very nice shooting and dang that gun makes some power.

Thanks Dave, I will bring some of the official N.U.A.H targets with me next time I shoot the cricket at 100 yards.

Sam.... that was some great shooting.
Sorry, but I won't be able to accept that target. It doesn't comply with any of the rules and it has more than 5 holes on it.
When you try again please post a picture of the range as well. Also using one of the official targets you can use the same target in the 100 yard match for score as well as for entry into the NUAH Club.

Thanks Marty next time out I will take photos of the range. I though a video showing it was 5 shots and the distance of a 100 yards would suffice.

Sam.... Sorry, I must apologize.  I completely missed the the link to the video on your first post(old age setting in). If you would.... put a ruler across the bull with the 2" line centered in the middle of the bull and take a picture so I can see where the 4 MOA circle would be to satisfy Rule# 6. Post the pic and I'll add you to the list.

No problem Marty. The target itself is 2 inches.

Hello ancient1one ,
do you think that the moderator you put on your cricket has changed the POI or consistency?
I put one on my .25 cricket , and I lost accuracy ; I suspect that the adapter is not perfectly centered and this could be the cause , even the pellet doesn't touch the moderator at any point.

Also , do you think that all this power of the Cricket, about 55 ft/lbs, is needed to achieve accuracy at 100 yards?
My FX Wildcat is more consistent and accurate at this range , with only 45 ft/lbs ?

thanks

Sorry I didnt respond earlier I was busy with other projects and work. I found the moderator helped tighten groups with the setup I have. Every gun is different.

As far as fpe both my 25's did not shoot the 34's accurate below 55 fpe. There wasn't much of a difference between 55 to 63 fpe in light winds but when the wind was 10 - 12 mph the extra fpe helped.

The ST barrels seem to like the 34's at 840 - 850. Ted from Ted's Holdover won the 2016 EBR at 100 yards in windy conditions with a Impact shooting the 34's at 850 fps.

Hello ancient1one ,

Congratulations for your entry in the 100 yards club  ;)

I 'm just busy trying the 100 yards these days. I shoot  the Kalibrgun Cricket and the carbine version , both in .25

I put a Hugget moderator on the cricket, and it doesn't affect the POI at 50 yards. I tried the Benjamin domed , 27 gr pellet ; they do very well on botn guns , always at 50 yards. Farther , I don't know.

For the 100 yards I think to go back to the JSB MKII , anyway. Did you try this range with the carbine too , or just the bullpup? And to adjust the power , do you simply adjust the tension of the hammer spring , or do you tune the regulator at the same time?

Anyway, Kalibrgun are great gun to shoot with ; too bad they don't have a .30 cal version , because I find the 9mm much to powerfull..

Maybe one day , I'put a try to convert the cricket .25 in .30 , but I 'm not decided at this moment. This must be correctly planned before beginning. I know Ernest Rowe did it....but it's Ernest.

Happy shooting
