I was trying to find the best air gun for under 600.00 and sort of failed on the Hatsan at 44 but saw these Kral guns and good reviews. Are these better quality than Hatsan or Mrod?
Read the review on it, looks pretty good for the money. Anyone here own one?

I owned one but sold it. The quality was so-so but that isn't why I sold it. It shot accurately and I never had a problem loading pellets into the barrel. I sold it because getting a good view through the scope was a royal pain in the butt. I had to mount extra high rings and even they weren't high enough. Once a good view was established, my nose was squished up against the magazine. I tried various adjustments to no avail.

Oops. I had a puncher breaker bullpup model. The Mega might not have the same issues as the bullpup. Sorry.

Don't be, good to know about the bullpup issues. Just curious how they shoot but sounds like the ergo was bad on the one you had.

I have several. I have been tuning them as well. I really like the guns.

Of all the issues with the PB, I wouldn't say ergonomics is one... The stock is actually very comfortable but you do need extra high rings or a riser to get the scope where it needs to be.
You can move the cheek pad forward or back along with your scope to get away from the magazine.
The issues that some have come across are sears and cocking levers breaking and horrible bore quality. With some massaging, the factory barrels will get you around 1/2-3/4" @ 50. Overall the build
quality is mediocre, but on par for the price. They are easily modified though and I'm happy with mine.

Just going to second or third the other posts. My Kral PB bullpup has no problems at all with the barrel. It is 3/4 inch or so at 50 yards, and thats from just a front sand bag made out of a canvas pouch made for change delivery from banks, not a real gun rest set up. I imagine I could do some amazing groups at 50 if I still had my portable bench rest table or just took some more time shooting.
I haven't had any of the sear or cocking lever problems, but i have only put around 1300 pellets through it, and have been very careful cocking it since the posts about it popped up, making sure I cock it from as far back as I can on the lever.
Ergonomics are as people report. I have a long face I guess, but I have extra high rings and a 3/8 inch riser I had laying around and I still feel I need to go higher to get a more natural view of the scope.
In all, if Kral makes parts available so that I am not scared that a minor breakage will be a useless gun, I am very happy with them and it as darn accurate for what I paid.

Shot count is ridiculous hands down higher than Mrod + Hatsan combined. What I've really come to enjoy is the power adjuster by just turning it down to med or lower the shot count is 100+ that's a lot of pop for the price.
Out to 50yrds yeah what the others said, but at its more than capable of holding it's own.
I must be the only person using med rings no riser, puts 50mm scope down right on top of the shroud nice and low the way I like it. Both of my bullpup's are set up pretty much the same so I guess that's why the ergonomics don't really bother, and I do realize that having the scope closer probably does nothing more than add to my mental edge, so I don't mind it being contorted a bit...
I've had my cocking handle bind on me to the point where I felt it give a little, so I'm patiently waiting on a upgrade for that and the sear, so every time I use the handle I think about it breaking, it's like I'm waiting for it to break or something but it hasn't happened yet.

Well you are coming from the perspective of Daystate and FX.
That Hatsan QE long had potential (if it shot straight) some people get goods ones. It was heavy though.
Just picked up a BSA Scorpion SE. Its pretty nice for $630. Very close to my Brocock and Daystate in balance and accuracy. So far that is best sub 700 gun I've tried but does not quite crack the 600.00 barrier.
So you say Mrod, Hatsan and Kral all junk? or just Kral.
Seems quite a few people like them.

It's the affordable, good looking bull pup for sure. Good internal engineering (shot count and consistency) but poor fit and finish in some areas. If you don't push the gun to "over perform" it will serve the buyer well. My barrel was pretty good, and the gun would shoot nine out of ten shots in an inch to 11/4 inch group at 50 yards. If you like to tinker and have the tools to do so, you'll like this gun. If you can't work on mechanical things, and expect it to work perfectly out of the box and every time you pick it up to shoot, you might be frustrated. My first bull pup and I'm pleased.

Hey Brother, I purchased the Marine Bull Pup from BWaltonPCP.net Baxter polished and re crowned the bbl, she is a great shooter. I love to carry mine with me in my Trk. For the occasional ground squirrel or varmint. Accuracy and preformance is really good for a $500 PCP I use the UTG SWAT scope with hi rings. Perfect alignment and comfortable shooting. I get 4-5mags out of her, I'm very happy with her preformance. She loves the JSB 16gr, GTO, Barracuda Match 5.53 and CPUM pellets the best in the order listed.
Best of Luck Brother Man

You're getting lots of comments on the Puncher Breaker. (which is the one I have too) Just for the folks who are too lazy to click the link, the gun he asked about is the Puncher Mega, this one:
It won't have the scope mounting issues that folks are complaining about.
I bought one tuned by Troy, and I like it, but it is not the same level of gun as the English guns.
The stock is great; easily the best in class. The trigger is good but not great. It breaks cleanly, but is heavier than I'm used to from my Brocock or Air Arms. Not quite as easy to shoot well at 50 yards and beyond. On the Mega, it might be a bit better, on account of not needing a linkage going from the trigger back to the action.
The action is kind of crunchy at first. After a few hundred rounds it's losing that feeling, but still seems to have more friction. I feel like the spring drags on something more by design than other, higher-end rifles.
Once in awhile, the bolt probe doesn't stay all the way back after it's cocked. I don't know what it is, but then I need one hand to hold it back and one hand to load the mag. Next time, no issues. I had no problem with the cocking lever breaking; it feels solid. Magazines are good. I suspect that gun had been power tuned with a heavier hammer spring and the cast metal lever just couldn't handle it in that case.
As for the scope height on the Puncher Breaker, I had mine mounted on medium rings, and it was uncomfortable. This is par for the course on any bullpup, since your head has to go over the action instead of behind it. I bought a set of high rings. I had a cheap UTG scope on it at first, and my nose was smashed against the magazine. I replaced it with one that had better eye relief (SWFA 10x42) and I no longer have that problem either.
I paid $700 for it tuned, and you'll pay $700 for your Scorpion by the time you get it quieted down. The Scorpion's probably a better gun overall. My $700 one included a tune, regulator install and silencing kit install.
The best value/quality rifle under $600 is going to be a used, tuned Marauder. Something where the tuner has at least confirmed that the barrel is good. My old .177 Marauder was a nice gun, and accurate, but it would never quite shoot 1/2" at 50 yards. More like 1", which is still darned good. (Mine was used, but not tuned) My Kral is more accurate than the Marauder was.
Bottom line, I don't think it's junk. I just think you get what you pay for. I wouldn't buy a new one straight from a dealer, though. I'd want it tuned and checked by an airgunsmith, at a minimum. Weed out any quality issues. With the Krals, "what you pay for" is a good barrel, a great stock, a good trigger, good shot count, and an OK action.
Ever had a Marauder yet? Hold out for a used, tuned Marauder, and put a good stock on it. Marauder's got a great action, good trigger, OK stock, and iffy barrels. If you get one with a known good barrel, you're in the clear. Heck, maybe even a new one, then add a good barrel? One reason I loved mine was the tune for 2500 psi fills. It was easy to hand pump, and I considered 30 shots per easy fill to be very good, on such an easy fill. Even now that I have a big CF tank, I still pump sometimes.

Nice right up Smaug2!
I must have been lucky on my first two guns Brocock and Daystate. Never did anything to them tune wise and they shoot great. The BSA out of the box has been pretty nice too. So far don't really need to do much. Its not that loud but yes a TKO will bring it over 700.00.
Yea a tuned maurader (no idea what they go for) might be good. But after having that Hatsan I'm thinking of sticking with guns under 8 pounds and under 40".
I shot the marauder when I was buying along with a bunch of other PCPs. The Daystate Regal and Brocock were that easy to shoulder type and were lasers. The marauder was nice but a league away in fit n finish and feel and was not as accurate.
I guess I assumed most guns shoot that well out of the box finding out that is not quite true.

I would have not got a Kral except WAR had them. Travis sticks by the products he sells. But I worry a lot as Kral Has never given me a coherent answer about the handle and sear breaking , in one day of shooting it . I contacted the US rep. and had no luck as they had no parts, Not sure I wanted OEM parts from Kral at this point. I'm glad some have had great luck with them , but this seems like a built in flaw or Quality control , SAFETY issue. Mine had the factory spring in it and I just cocked it like my others to make sure the mag indexed. Trying to call and email the factory was useless. I know less then 600 bucks is not going to get a FX etc. but it should get an air rifle that works every time out of the box. Customer service would have been nice. WAR has been standing behind his even though at this point he has to be losing money. And he has to be busy as a one legged billy goat. I WOULD NOT BUY ANOTHER KRAL. I have 2 Evanix, 2 JKhans that also work great. Others with no problems and some benji/cros/gamo that have lots, not happy with some of those but Crosman at least, will give you an answer. Good luck and hope for all who are in the boat.

Thanks that is all I need to hear. I'll stay clear Kral.

I bought a hill pump with my guns, I think I have used it like 8 times. It has cobwebs on it now. :). Carbon Fiber the way to go with pcp.
-
I grabbed a Hill pump when I caught it on sale had it for about a week and then got a deal on a used Tigershark. There the Hilll pump sat until I shot strings with the Kral & decided to add a regulator to .25, and in doing so went through two fills in only a few days. There were times were the tank would only fill to around 2800psi then I would finish up with the Hill to 3100psi. I had thought about selling it, but will hold on to it just for that reason.

Yea I keep mine just in case too. Can't say it was on sale though. Its a $300.00 paperweight.
Might have to buy a 2000 psi pcp to get some use out of it.
-
Despite the fact that it's no Brocock, I do like the Kral. I don't want to give the wrong impression. It's a nice airgun. Just not quite "high-end."

Maurader in 177 or 25 is a good choice. Less than 500 dollars and lots of cheap mods. Parts are easy to get. Trigger is good and gun is quite. 1/2 inch groups a on a windless day
Is common for mine but it is 22 cal with marmont militia barrel. According to most mrod owners the 177 and 25 have good barrels but if you get a bad barrel crossman will send you another one and they are real cheap and easy to get if you have to buy one. Quality of the gun is very good but the bolt is not as nice as a side lever but it won't break. No scope issues either. For the money and quality and good service from Crossman Maurader is your best choice.
