When you take your fps avg are you taking mean or median average? I've been doing mean, but was wondering since people are posting highest and lowest.
Thanks

Mean, over the shots in the curve that stays within 30 fps. (or over the regulated part, in the case of a regulated gun)

Most of the time I use the standard averaging most folks are used to (add up all the numbers and divide by the number of numbers you just added together). Mostly I use this method for springers, single stroke pneumatics, or anything that should have a relatively consistent speed from shot to shot.
The only time I use a median value is when I'm dealing with a shot curve such as you get with pcp's and some co2 setups. This is because I'm looking to generally stay within a small window around a certain speed. I look more for the window that balances accuracy (POI or general accuracy will change as the speed of the pellet changes over the curve) and shot count. After deciding on my acceptable low and high through the curve, I'll find the median and say it shoots at that speed.

Makes sense. Thanks
