Post by: kj on April 20, 2017, 05:37:27 AM

thanks

I'd not do it. There are cO2 regulators out there, I'd go that way instead if at all possible.

Good to go....baby brush  brustles no problem with compressed air at least you'll find out how long it will hold with co2 before you start shooting bristles out the barrel  if it make it out the valve. Never can tell until it`s done.

Only thing I'd worry about would be the bristles becoming brittle from the cold or somehow being in contact with the liquid co2 and breaking apart.

I can't imagine they'd do any harm if they did, just require a good dissassbly and cleaning but no permanent damage.

Re: your question about a ping in a co2 setup.  I've heard that a ping occurs in every pressure vessel when an abrupt burp is let out.  The variables like size, composition, shape, contents, etc. determine how apparent that pressure wave's sound is as it travels along the vessel but it's always there.

Bristles may not make it out the muzzle, bit they sure can make a mess of the valves ability to seal properly and who knows what else.

i think i'm going to give it a try. my rifle is easy to tear down, i do it all the time..lol. if i get any problems i'll post them so people know it doesn't work good for co2. i know co2 affects o-rings, some types more than others. but i don't know the affect on nylon..lol..yet. that ping is annoying for sure

thanks

yes i doubt if the bristles start shedding that they'll get shot out..lol.  i'll make sure there's no loose ones when i put it in and hopefully the co2 won't affect them to the point they start breaking off. but unless someone tells me they know it won't work for sure, i'm going to try it..lol. if it fails, i'll let everyone know. i know pcp guys use it, but air and co2 are different. so we'll see.

peace

after alittle research i found that nylon is just fine with co2, some nylon even being treated with co2.

So really good to go on trying this with co2...you got your ducks in a row,  just don't forget to report any dead ducks on this learning curve.

gotcha, i searched all over for info on bulk filling the 2260 tube without any bottles etc. i couldn't find anything. i definitely got some good info to work with here from the guys and after i get it sorted i'll do a write up about it all. i got my first string recorded here on paper, we'll see where it goes from here. the shot count was encouraging and potential power. my wife is out getting me a bottle brush, soon as she gets back i'm putting a piece in the tube and filling it. i'll set up my chrony and run a string as i make adjustments to the pre-load. i already turned the pre-load in 1.5 turns from where it was . i also made a restricted transfer port in case i need it, but i'm not putting it in yet until i see if i can get a flat string without using it. still have a couple other ideas waiting too.

stay tuned.
