Looking at a kit with the tool for $35.00. Are there any issues to be aware of and is this difficult to do?

I just resealed my 64 and did have a problem because I didn't realize the lower/2nd lead seal was in there. So I would leave the lower lead seal alone and use the other parts. I think I used the same kit as you from Baker. I'm new here but we have some Dan guys that know more than I and will help if you have questions.
Make sure you clean everything good, don't go crazy and scratch up the gun getting the pins out, that your time and it should go smoothly. You'll need to make a bolt screw removal tool but it's easy, check the video and make sure to position the screw correctly to save the edges from rounding off for the next guy that you Will it to because it'll be good for another 50 years.
Follow these instructions and have fun.

Bolt removal, don't lose the spring

I have 2 other Dans and the new resealed gun is the strongest, you'll know how much stronger when you start pumping it up.

Fellas, Check this out !!!! New member helping a new member !!! It just don't get no better than that!!!
I don't have anything to add that RadRob hasn't already said.
Oh wait... yes I do..
Be careful threading the retaining nut back in. It is steel into brass. Add pressure and turn counter clockwise until you hear and feel the threads align.
Good luck.

I have noticed a lot of past new members who are carrying the torch or founding members have lit and passed on , some take off faster than others. Good to see :)

Ok, so the 2 hex wrenches are the only unusual tools needed? What size eh not sure what to ask for at the hardware store.???

Just wanted to thank Rob for those 2 links, appreciate it. I've got a '78 Blue Streak that stopped pumping up last year and I'm pretty confident that it just needs a reseal. I did purchase some "Secret Sauce" from Mac 1 hoping that might revive it but no joy. The rifle is in excellent shape cosmetically, both the wood & metal. Those instructions make it look relatively easy to do the repair and I'm tempted to buy the kit and give it a go. Thing is, I have arthritis so bad in my hands nowadays that it's getting harder to do much in the way of repair. At times it's painful to turn a door knob.:o I probably should call or email Baker and see what they'd charge to do it if I send it to them. I'd like my Grandsons to enjoy it some day.

Ed;
Get ahold of Longhunter (Scott Decker). He'll do your old girl up right.

Tim-He said it's a 1/8" hex head. Seems like a 6 point 1/8" socket would do the job. ???

Here is a link to a repair manual by U.J. [ Sheridan expert ] that you can save or print.

A regular 1/8" socket may not fit in the tight space where the cocking screw lives. I made a tool by spinning a socket head screw against a file and jamming two wingnuts on the end. Someone else posted awhile back about wrapping duct tape around the valve tool so it just fits inside the tube. I tried it and it makes it much easier to align the valve nut on reassembly. My valve tool is from the PA kit.

What is the best "kit" for a late 50s thumb hold down safety Blue Streak? Some comments say " this kit "won't work for earlier models. :P

I thought all of the Dans would use this kit, give Dennis a call and he'll get you the right kit. (937) 660-9152

I have to Thank Rob112o for helping me through PM's and I'm just paying it forward. I also called Dennis Baker when Rob was at work and he explained about the bottom seal. After I realized the bottom lead seal was still in there it went back together easy. It's hard to see even after cleaning it up and using a bright flashlight. It looks like part of the valve and the only way to tell it's in there is to lightly tap it with a screwdriver and you'll know it's lead because of the dull sound. Don't use a tool to tap it, just light finger pressure so you don't make dents in the seal.
I have to Thank all you enablers too, I figure if I'm gonna have so many AG's, I need to learn to work on them.

Cool thanks.

I think the growth in interest of these old pumpers is outstanding!
But that leaves less of them for me. ;D

While Baker is very well known and I do not intend to steal business from him, I followed recommendations here and called Rick at Precision Pellet.

What a super guy and parts were spot on for my rebuilds!

You will also need the valve tool. One end is square and removes the nut, the other is female thread and removes the valve.

Right. That comes with the kit correct?

Right. That comes with the kit correct?
Some times... but not always.
you need to confirm it does with whatever kit you are ordering.

Ok went to a true value hardware stor and there was no "1/8"hex head screws. Are we sure it's 1/8" hex head? I'll probably have to take the barrel in.
-
Take a 1/8" allen key with, find a screw that fits it.
